The restoration/modification of Daisy.

The restoration/modification of Daisy…

Sunday I went and got my draglink bent, installed it and took daisy for a cruise around the neighborhood. I hit a couple dirt roads to make sure everything clears and I'm pretty happy with it right now. The steering and exhaust are safe, the bump stops work, the springs don't hit the frame at the back and the drag link is 2-3" away from the oil pan.

Looking up at the pan and drag link.

I thought the shackles would be too short, they aren't.

ill have to build new lower mounts to drop them down some more, without articulating, I'm coming within an inch of bottoming the shocks.

I guess every set of custom springs is different, mine sit flat at ride height, Adam's have 3+" of arch at ride height, with only 1/2" of lift height difference.

You have a lot of leaves there... :eek1:

I assume they are much softer than the stock leaves. Is that right? If ran 9 stock leaves I think I'd be in the P-30 weight range.

Yes they're considerably softer that other lift & stock leaves.

The difference is that you have a D60 and Adam has a 10bolt. The D60 sits inherently higher so I'm betting ORD factored that in when building your springs.

That's why I told them to build me a 3.5" spring. Chris and I talked about it and decided on 3.5". I want to keep it as low as I can.

Yeah. Is there something I'm missing? Dammit now you've got me wanting to go look at my truck and I'm already in bed.

Edit: dug through some photos, it's in the stock location. My wheelbase and front driveline didn't change when I installed them.

Daisy got to stretch her legs at Adam's Driveshaft yesterday. The front shaft needs to be lengthened 1.5", which is less than I expected. I'll pick the shaft up tomorrow. I got my a/c lines made this morning (on company time I might add) so I'll install those and replace the rear expansion valve tonight. This weekend I should be able to charge the system and get her blowing cold!

Looking good, you just gonna leave the bumpers grey? Is that just a sealed primer on them and the body?
That's all I had on my Blazer. Held up fine even in PNW weather.

That's paint on the bumpers, same color as all of my other parts under the truck. The body is primer, someday I'll paint it.

I made. License plate mount out of a harbor freight hitch plug/shackle mount.

Cut the tabs off, welded on a license plate sized piece of steel, 14ga I think. Painted it and mounted the plate.

I replaced the cracked tie rod end boots with poly ones.

Yesterday we put on some new stickers and today I re-torqued the u-bolts and lug nuts. Especially with the rear spacers, not that I'm worried about them but it's a good routine to check.

The a/c was supposed to get charged today but that didn't happen, scheduling issues. We won't need it for overland expo, it's supposed to be cild and rainy all weekend. I'll get it taken care of next week.

Are you any closer to making the plans for that rear bumper available?

Honestly, no. I haven't given it much thought. Sorry man.

Where you get the tie rod boots?

ORD.

Daisy made it to overland expo just fine, we set up camp and climbed inside to hide from the wind. That should die off tonight but it's supposed to rain tomorrow, haha!
