yesterday i cut into the exhaust to take care of the issue I've had with the axle hitting the y-pipe. i cut the pass side off just below the header flange and right in the middle under the torque converter. the pass side is moved up just over 2" now by shortening the tube that comes down from the header and adding a 45* bend under the trans. i also cut the O2 sensor bung out of the old pipe and welded it into this one. i'm happy with the way it turned out. not exactly happy with my welder though, the power adjustment isn't behaving properly. i was either blowing through the pipe or piling up wads of metal. at anything under 1/2 power it doesn't even penetrate 16ga exhaust tubing, just over 1/2 power I've got to move faster than i want to keep from blowing through. it's time to add a 220v line t the garage and step it up some…
