Looked like a great event and the shop truck did great. Hopefully 2nd gear fix isn't too costly or difficult!

I was feeling well rested this morning so we got up at 4, left by 4:45 and I just stopped driving at our campsite for the night just outside of Topeka KS.
Tomorrow we're hoping to get to a decent camp site in northern AZ so we'll just have a short drive on Wednesday.
I only got 2oz of oil out of the puke tank after 500+ miles those morning, but that was relatively flat. I still need to dump what collected since then, but Missouri and Kansas have a lot more elevation change than Michigan, Indiana and Illinois, so I'm expecting more.

There was 8 oz. Not bad for how hard I was flogging it today.
I forgot to mention. I did end up in second for the nitrous class for what it's worth.
We made it to our camp spot on the Mogollon Rim near first lakes az. We're pretty sure whatever is causing the blowing got significantly worse climbing the hills coming into Albuquerque. We pulled 20oz out after we filled up, that's apparently the max it can contain without blowing it all over the back of the truck (which it did). Even though the drive from there wasn't nearly as bad, it blew more oil out so I'm guessing the tank is full again. On top of the oil that's coming out of the tank, it's burning 1-2 qts per tank. I'm pretty sure I've got some bad rings and who knows what else. At least it should finish this trip.
Two days of driving 15 hours straight sucks if anyone was wondering. I've driven 5000 miles in the last 2 weeks.
Sounds like you might have to tow the RV with the shop truck...

I had 15 hours for my mind to wander and think about this week's events, which prompted me to look at my catalog again. I think the trans is fine, although the torque converter may be unhappy.
What I didn't notice on the logs is that the trans starts shifting into 2nd, but the rpm keeps climbing and hits the shift point for 3rd, then out meets conditions to shift to second, then rpm climbs and it shifts to third. I need to fire my tuner (it's me in case anyone missed the joke).

Here is the datalog graph. The green line is RPM, the yellow line is input shaft speed, the squared off blue line is what gear the ECU is telling the trans to be in and the other blue line is driveshaft speed.
Look at that log and check your TPS.
Is the shift pulling you back off the pedal a bit?
If it's not 100% or close to, it may be reverting from WOT shift point to TPS/speed based.
I had an issue with mine for a while where my shifts were sinking me in the seat or something just enough to pull 5-6%

You must be shifting quite conservative to have time to shift back to second and not hit the rev limiter. Is your downshift line too close or overlapping your shift line?
I need to dig into the logs more. Gearstar said to make sure the shift completes before it hits 6500 rpm, that's what I was aiming for. I had it set for the big pulley and didn't catch that it was hitting 7k+ until after northern. I just dropped the shift point by the amount of rpm it overshot the shift by on the 1-2 shift and didn't change anything else.
Go look at your shift charts and make sure the downshift for that gear doesn't overlap the upshift from the gear below.
There needs to be a decent gap on every one, also, I go back and make sure the shift charts end up right at or below the WOT setting, so there is no discerpancy.
For example, here is one of my regal shift parameters...
The WOT shift..
is what makes the black lines on the shift charts...always make sure they coincide so you don't have differences. Also, check that the gray lines and the colored lines don't overlap, that will cause issues, you can make the gaps bigger, but not smaller. You can also see the red shift lines end up at or just below the black WOT lines approaching 100% throttle.
Unless you purposely don't want it to shift, as I don't want it to shift to 4th at WOT, so I make it so it doesn't. I would have to change that if I ever did a 1/2 mile or something, but it can go 165 MPH in 3rd so I'm good for the quarter with my 3.60 gears. Anyway, just some examples.
