THE STUBBY project / R.I.P . . . . . . . . . . .

well got the shop cleaned up today and then put all my tools away .

all this after i setup and adjusted all my shifter linkage and shifters from ord. i have the 3 stick so it was a bit of time to do all 3.

also i even set a tighter detent fell on the range box as i figured it was to soft for my liking. once i got all 3 setup and got a feel for the setup i relized i didnt like how soft it was. and a few others on here had complained a bit about how soft it was. so since i still had all of it out of the truck i tested a few things.

i found a much better detent feeling and a much closer feel to the tcase side when i used a 5/16 nut with the edges ground off round. it was a bit fun to get started up in there but no big deal. once in and done it has a good fairly firm detent now.

well today i droped off the 4l80-e to the tranny shop for a full check over and then tail shaft swap out to the full spline unit. and new gaskets when apart.

should be ready friday night or sat afternoon.

went and picked up the 4l80-e today with the full spline shaft installed in it. the tranny man said she was super clean and like new inside and should be no major problems that he can tell.

also wensday i went and blasted the drive shaft flanges and the complete ord tripple stick shifter setup.

its now ready for primer and paint. i will all so paint up the tranny and get it all ready to install soon.

well figured out a few things this weekend on a 4l80-e full spline shaft / 241 adaptor and 203 range box.

you get a real short output shaft. about 2 5/8 long

you should have the tail shaft machined down in a area prior to install or you need to gring the face of the input gear off 1/4" . the round area infront of my finger.

but more on this in my big huge write up in the tech section. will add more info soon.

fitted the shifters and flanges up after paint. all come out good except the main bracket had to be notched to clear a bolt head on the tranny side of the adaptor. the bolt hole at around 11'clock area the arch of the bracket was to close.

Looking good Brett.:waytogo: The black, day-glo green, and aluminum colors go well together. It'll be a shame to get it all dirty. Or a joy, who knows?:dunno::D

I'm surprised you have to shorten the 4L80e shaft so much. I would have thought the factory 4L80e/NV241 adapter and output shaft would mate to the NP 203. Does the NP203 input stick out more than the NV241?

well tranny is painted. swaped out the oil feed plug to a solid 4x4 plug at the back of the tranny. got the adaptor bolted on the tranny and ord tripple stick shifter bracket bolted up also.

then i was ready for droping in the motor / tranny / doubler setup and all my help backed out on me this weekend. and i even have beer / liquer / full auto repair shop loaded with tools. what gives ?

so i cleaned and painted more stuff for the swap i wasnt going to bother with. so its even more ready when help shows this week .

few pics for ya. got to get a better tranny pic monday.
