The "under destruction builds" supersize75k5 's driveway of despair and repair

So, why don't you go try to find a 6L90E from one of the newer trucks?

enlighted me?:confused::ears:

Sounds $$$$$$$ and harder to harder to find and pricy to get rebuilt? The 4l80 in my truck is the same one in 97 and up burbs, trucks etc.. easy to find and builders are really familiar with them.

Another thought is the d-max vans had a 4l80 in them or the 4l85 so im curious to find out if there are any differences or if the d-max is detuned a bit in that application?

At any rate, a friend or a friend rolled his 80's burb today out in the desert and I went as a recovery rig lol

You should have heard the guy once I mentioned I had a bad hydro boost pump,..and thus crappy brakes and no assisted steering..then the fact that I had no reverse and no overdrive .. then told him I was there to save him!

Good times.. good old reliable 350 in the burb was able to get started again with a puff of smoky glory after it was righted. Aside from a busted axle shaft that caused his burbs demise and swapping a spare tire, 2 quarts of oil later it drove out on its own.

yes yes it is/ the dmax is detuned in the vans with a 4l80/85 behind it because they will not take the torque.

get a wreck Dmax allison and call it a day brother/

Only 1st through third..truck is still kickin ass:D

Went out to recover a rolled suburban and to the mud bogs last week.

The suburban was climbing a steep hill that is know for bad roll overs. Thankfully it help up well after a roll and a slide down on its lid. A spare tire swaped on, flipped over and she fired right up and drove onto the trailer :) Good ol chevy's

Sadly my camera man sucks so no good pics of my truck catching some nice air or while in the canyons
:(

The sun was setting and a pretty serious rain was coming our way so we enjoyed the nice weather and then got the hell out of the washes before it hit!

most good bumpers for these trucks seem to hit the 1700-2500.00 mark real quick. Personaly I would find a local recomended fab shop in your area and support him.:waytogo:

more breakage..

Last night drove out to the local tracks mud bogs, on my 4th run I nailed the wall at full speed half way down the track, got her on 2 wheels almost rolling the truck:crazy::D

the truck did a hard 180, wound up facing the wrong way and had zero steering. Being I had yet to get stuck ever there I said **** it, mashed the gas and flogged it all the way back to the starting line. When i got up there the guys who's run the starting line looked at me like I was nuts, then I told him I had zero steering :rotfl:

The truck had zero steering but by mashing the gas it would yank the truck left then right.. went about maybe 30 yards and it put me right back to the pit area by some stroke of luck. Friends came up and their jaws dropped when they realized I had sheered the sector shaft and had zero steering.

what a night. Then my buddy grabs his trailer and we do some 5000rpm then some bouncing off the rev limiter in reverse action to get the truck to barley move.. "trans is toast in reverse and OD.." Finally after it smells like the truck is in hell and burning up the trans we pull my battery and winch her up.

all and all.. the entertainment was priceless. Ill throw up some pics tonight and see if anyone has video of the mishap

Is there anything left to work with on that truck? Sure seems that you've destroyed almost everthing at least once, however very entertaining for us:D
