The "under destruction builds" supersize75k5 's driveway of despair and repair

Taking the day off to get back on this, I want to go out on friday in it:crazy:

Found these little gems, what a pain to locate these! They allow you to plug into the factory cooler line insert on the 4l60/4l80 trans and adapt it to a 6-AN

17 bucks for the pair.

The fittings in the side of the trans should be 1/4" npt in the case.
Nevermind... Cooler line insert

On these, both my tranny guy, another and hughes told me not to just screw in a line fitting/adaptor into the case its self.

1991-1996, all you need are the 1/4" pipe (6) AN fittings and teflon pipe thread sealant.

1997-up, you won't be able to use the AN fitting for the rear cooler unless you can find someone who installs the lube extension in the fitting. This fitting intersects through a seal in the center support for the lube circuit.

went on a little run to place here,

Got a wee bit bound up and broke the 60 outer shafts and both hubs to pieces, they had a good run though and really impressed with how long they did hold up.

Rest of the trail was a 2wd assault up the water falls and hills and a strap behind another rig.

Rear locker is now being retired, just is not working or it takes too much tire spin to engage it when it will work. Plan is to just weld it being I like trailering this thing now.

Waiting on the rest of the pics and vid, but ill add some more when I get them being my camera was in my truck.

No wonder you beat the snot out of that thing. If you don't get down the trail in 30 minutes or less, the pizza is free! :D

So yesterday I was bored and decided to take the truck out to brake it and get some good video of some jumps and try to get a pic of it way in the air.

Get all loaded up, regrade half the whoops down on the road down to the wash with the trailer:doah: And get it unloaded.

Fire it up, put away the straps, buckle up and down the wash we go like a bat out of hell. Pretty much less than 300 yards into the rear drive shaft decided it needed a day off and went a-wall while I'm in 3rd gear with the foot to the floor:tongue1:

So I get out, find the driveline and the yoke on the slip side is trashed as is the u-joint and the rear straps on the yoke. We pull the front slip to see if by chance the driveline splines were the same as I had spare joints and straps with me, but no luck:(

So put the front back together, tossed in a front hub "I still had yet to put it back in and only had one with me"

After getting one wheel front wheel drive working what else to do but see if I can get through the sand enough to jump it:haha: Pressed my luck for about 15 minutes until my buddy said it getting dark and we're pressing out luck.

Getting it on the trailer was a whole nother adventure though! Front left just wanted to spin on the metal deck, so with worried on lookers I just backed up and went for it and hoped the ramps ended up under the tires:haha:

No action pics, ill be ready again next week if the weather pans out.

Finally did get some pics of the set up though.

Looks nice. Tow rig looks like mine 'cept it's an '02. I really like that trimmed front bumper. What about the specs on that trailer?

Trailer is a craigslist special:D I cant remember what i payed but it was 700 or 800 bucks or something close to that.

5 luck 6k axels with brakes, 21 foot deck iirc, dove tail, 8k winch, locking box, steel deck with expanded steel over it on the dovetail for traction, perm plates. Pulls very nice and with the air bag assist I added on the truck I can pretty much load the truck where ever will no ill effects on handing. Its max legal width and the deck is flat so for me its perfect!

Insane build.. I know it's like 30 pages back, but...It looks like you mig'ed the front truss to the axle, what wire/gas did you use?

Iirc, the wire was 0.30 and the gas was regular 70 percent mix.

The 60 housing is nodular iron, welding to it is of no issue, keeping it from warping is however!

ok, what did you do as far as pre/post heating it?

Advice given to me was to heat it with a rose bud before and after. I strongly strongly suggest you do a lot of reading around and choose the method you feel safe using. But do not think you can just go to town, it will warp.

Damn, I haven't checked out your build in a while. Don't have time to go thru it all, but what's up with the buggy? Truck is looking cooler & more trashed every time I do check for updates :D

OHHHH

That thing, um..it holds down the concrete:doah:

Not much left to do.. it runs, it drives.. just need to do the front shocks, seat belt mounts, mount the arb compressor and change out the front flange on the atlas so I can bolt up the driveline.

So took the truck out tonight for some rompin around, jumping and high speed fun.

Go back on some trail and seemed to have found the start to a new grand canyon.. pics do this no justice but it damned near ate my truck at the end.

Wound up having to walk back, grab the tow rig, drag the trailer across the wash, drop it, then wheel the daily driver back to the stuck truck.. fill the tires back up.. and get it straddled and back to the other side.. then spend forever going back and forth a foot till I got the truck over.

When I first dropped in the rear tire flew up and I damned near made this thing a compact..

so on the list..

better off road lights.. cage..and sliders.. and finish that damned front bumper.

Till I walked back I got a wee bit desprit and aired the tires way down and the high lift signed its autograph into the side of the cab:doah:

Over all damned funny time.. really happy I didn't hit the hole just a little more to the right, was a long down hill crevace and about 8-10 feet deep!
