-44 is out of a conversion van that had been converted to 4x4, I have seen these brackets before, not sure if it was a Quigly or not but they are production fab brackets for sure.
Well I am changing my mind yet again... I pondered the 4 link up front, but long term I want a dana 60 and I also know i really love the radius arm design on my 07..
So back to leafs.
Couple of the issues I had with doing leafs with a 31.5 center pin to center pin measurement was that is would cause the front leaf brackets to sit inward a good 1/2" or more and it just looked funky.
Also the superduty springs I have are only going to net me a couple inches of lift compared to the 4" lift springs out back, this would lead to some adding a a leaf, zero rate, hanger or shackle bs and I was not liking the idea.
So I started thinking about a 52 inch rear k5 spring pack and running that instead of the super pooper springs.. well this then opened up my mind to sourcing some different spring and shackle mounts
I have also seen where people use the front rear leaf hanger off of a k5 on the 88-98 trucks to hold the shackle and I have a k5 project in the back yard..
no dice though as my frame is a bit thicker and I would have had to chop them up to widen my center pin to center pin.. considered this.. then came across these aftermarket rear shackle hangers....
These will not run up and down as usual, tried and I would have to butcher these to to fit the bulge in the frame, with them turned 90 degrees they fit perfect
I think I will drill one more mounting hole for some variety if needed and brace the front most part that looks pretty unsupported when this is turned as I have it.
Now this is where it opened up then closed another set of worms.. the idea was to get a 31.5 center to center.. well these hangers are all wrong and gave me a 32.5 center to center.
...but that number seemed all to familure... it is exactly what my frame is center to center up front
Being I am going to have to weld on perches anyways I did some quick measuring and it sits the perch perfectly right next to the casting for the center chunk and should work out beautifully
Ordered up my perches from Kurt at diy4x as well as my front leaf spring hanger.
