I really hate myself .
I just have to decide between radius arms or leafs. Really tempted to go Cognito though. Arr
How about stepping out of the box a bit and going with a custom lower arm, coilover and possibly a custom upper arm. Widen it out a bit and install some better CV shafts.
You know custom IFS. I think the downfall of the Gm torsion bar system is the torsion bar. I would guess someone has this kit already done.
Better knuckles are going to have better balljoints too.
I have had good luck with the cognito stuff but I'm smart enough to keep the tow rig tires touch ground at all times![]()
.
. But the leafs are more simple and are a cheaper route. You did do both setups before, which one did you like to beat on better i mean drive better...
I have the Cognito leveling kit on my '07 Dmax with the pitman and idler arm supports, tie rod sleeves,1500 levers and 5100 bilstien shocks. It is a really nice set up and it does ride good. The only problem I have is the moog upper ball joints that are supposed to be better then factory have worn out several times. When I called them about they said we don't have any problems with that happening. I call BULLSH*T on that. Good thing is they have a life time warranty, just sucks that I have had to replace them a couple of times.

I got less than stellar life out of my first set as well, but I kinda forgot they had grease zirks for a while
I found they are a 98 2500 Gm truck ball joint, I think that's correct. Also mounting them on top or underneath the arm changes how they sit in relation to everything. You might try the other side of the arm if they go out again.
Like I said I have the full Cognito stuff on my 05' and for what it is and what the truck is "supposed" to do I like it.

This "kit" does what I was talking about pretty well from what I can tell.
you have the knack of being able to break an anvil in a padded room

Then again you have the knack of being able to break an anvil in a padded room

If I could come up with the money I would really like to make my own upper and lower A arms, knuckles etc. I would build them to make the track width a few inches wider, new polished CV's and shafts, Single 2.5" King Coil over. Then tune the steering in well and have fun with it.
IMO the GM IFS is good for a factory truck but the torsion bars put too much stress on the lower arm in a bad way. Then the stress carries through from there.
I don't know if the cognito stuff will be Shawn proof, I like to think it will try to be but it may fall short. Then again you have the knack of being able to break an anvil in a padded room

Id love to go full custom but I just don't have the time. I have been staring at that long arm kits though.
Right now I bought a l title Sami to play with so I'm distracted. Now I remember how much fun 31's can be!
i'd say thru this weekend til the sawzall gets to it.2 weeks till the sami is dead. Any takers?

I'll go with that.Sami will need major repairs after this weekend.
