TRADING MY "SKILLS" FOR A 6.5TD K5

Side work can be very rewarding with the right customer. Make steady progress each day, and you'll easily develop and hit your milestones.

Managing expectations is critical. I do weekly updates - always by email with photos - as if they were forum posts. Keeps the customer informed and engaged; that's also when I do summary billing, which is out of scope for you except for the ever constant list of required parts not on hand.

It sounds like a great way to exercise your skills and build some new ones.

Thanks for the advise.

Since I will see him every day, it makes it easier to get parts requests in and let him know what was worked on. I'm going to get see about picking it up soon, as I want to get it going as a roller before the weather turns cold. Then I will have my warm garage to work on the engine swappage.

Yes I agree 100% on this being an awesome place for good advice on what to do and not to do. If this was that other forum with the pirate name then you would have gotten a bunch of ghey ass haters just ripping into you for no reason about who knows what. I almost hate trying to read builds or anything on that site cuz there is so much stupid ass BS that you have to wade through first. Have fun and don't piss off the wife working too much!

I used to build custom semi/oil field winch trucks for a guy at my old job. Way awesome. I was getting paid to build cool shit with someone else's money and since I didn't have a good source for a lot of parts through the company he trusted me with his credit card info to just order what I needed when I needed stuff. Built him a compound turbo dodge also for his farm/work truck.

First and main priority. Otherwise I won't have a wife to go cruise with me on nice evenings or weekends lol.

I already set that in stone before we started all of this that wife/family are always first, and he said, "there is no question about that".

Who would want to be seen in a 6.5 thou!

Lol, just kidding.

Get crackin' and make sure you create a build thread.
:deal:

No I meant for long it's dragging out to get your Crew cab 4x4...
Hey now...

My main goal was to keep it usable while doing this entire build, and so far I have done that.

No harm in using the truck while I gathered funds and parts to make it a minimal amount of down time for each upgrade. So far I have been very successful in keeping this truck usable.

Good example of the market around here. Asking $6000 not complete and has some rust.
