Train Horn installed!

take a closer look at what I said first. I said"...that I have seen"

I've never seen one rated higher than 150psi, I didn't say they don't exist.

Air compressor governors on class 8 trucks come pre-set from the factory at 120psi and thats pretty much the industry standard. blowoff valves in the tank are set to 150psi. so components will only ever see 150psi in a governor failure situation = almost never.

but being a HD mechanic I have no idea how a highway tractor works

Fabulous :waytogo: - I can't believe how awesome you are

So wheres a clip of how your horn sounds?!?!? I can't wait to get on under my Dodge.

It does not do it justice at all - there are better ones on the internet of this particular chime (a Nathan P3) - this is running straight off my home compressor - at 175 psi.

Now were do u think i can find one of those for my truck?

Right here - the kit at the bottom right with the 5 gallon air tank & Nathan P3 is what I have (less the crappy semi-truck valve and compressor)

http://www.hornblasters.com/products/category.php?class=8

There is also a Nathan P3 on Ebay right now...

They usually go for between $600-$700 - I was very lucky and found my horn on Craigslist for $100. I got the air tank from my uncle who is a real honest to goodness "Class 8" truck driver. So I'm into mine about $200 right now - well $263 now cause I just ordered a non semi-truck air valve capable of achieving INFINITE air pressure ;) :pimp:

Amen brother! It worked pretty good on New Years - hooked to home air. Drowned out my neighbor's damn bell pretty good.

And it is SUPER awesome superb at getting all the dogs in the neighborhood to bark! :D

:D Nope - not a Slavic - that's an OLD nickname I used to be called in grade school - thought it was as good a handle as any...

As for the horn - just got lucky - it was in general sales stuff - did a search for a garage door with just the word "garage" and a guy's ad said "cleaning out the garage" - he had a grow light & a train horn :haha: :haha:

You need a 'Hemi Powered Air Raid Siren' to put in the bed of your truck. This would be my ultimate sire setup - I would love to take it camping in the hills and fire it up.:eek1:

But since these are a collectors item and HUGE money to buy (if you ever even find one), I'll have to be content with locomotive horns - during this lifetime anyways.
