Truckasaurus. The rebirth and resurrection of a fallen legend

I am just doing minor wiring stuff right now. Little things like getting the AC panel to light up with dash lights etc. I did get the ac charged which is awesome

Got my obdmx wifi scanner in and connected. Amazing the visibility this tool gives you. Connected up a CEL which I am happy to report goes off when I start the car!!

You can see the cel below the radio

My fuel pump is acting wacky. Truck will crank but not start intermittently. Pretty sure I have a bad ground

I know it does that, stoked to see it go off. I know it is my pump. I can't hear it cycle when I start the truck. I had a kill switch relay hidden in line that I have taken out and pretty sure I moved or disturbed the ground somehow. I need to dive back under the truck and deal with it. Got little issues I am sorting right now. Power steering cooler leaking like crazy so I need to replace that, finish up little wiring projects but the truck is running like a beast.

Man you know how to put together one tough, badass machine :saweet: I'd just about kill to have half the redundancy and beastiness of that in my daily workbeast

Wow, thanks man. I really made that a focus of my build. I want dependability and reliability and safety above everything else. I want to do the rubicon and Moab and other classics but I also want to take my family high up into the whites and sierras with no concern for the viability of the truck.

Pretty much all my decisions from electrical to cooling to wiring and body protection were viewed through that lense.

I had my fuel pump die on me this week. Kinda strange as I just installed it last year during stage 1. I did run it dry when I ran out of gas recently and that is not good for them at all, so I would guess that had something to do with it. I have checked all the wiring and relays and the pump is not priming when the key is in accessory position 1. Gonna replace the pump with a pump for a 2002 Tahoe. It looks like that is gonna be a direct swap and give me the fuel tank pressure and evap that I will need for SMOG.

Will have to pull the pump to see for sure.

Also replaced my Derale Frame rail cooler this week. When I installed it last year it worked fine. This year when I reinstalled it after the swap it wouldn't seal properly. I ended up tapping out the threads to accept the fitting off the end of the AN hose. It didn't leak for a while and then slowly developed a leak that I couldn't trace at first cause it was so small. Finally found it and ordered the NPT to AN adapters and a new cooler. Took the opportunity to move the cooler into the engine compartment. I think I am gonna mount a LED light bar under the core support where the cooler was.

I also got my lines and fittings in for the trans cooler.

I hooked a little LED up to the thermostat on the cooler that will illuminate when the fans turn on. Just another way to keep track of how things are going on the truck. I also have two sensors on the trans. One below in the pan and one up in the body. I can switch between the two sender locations with the switch in the dash and monitor different temps in the trans.

Removed my old walbro pump today. Decided to cut the floor and remove that way. So much easier and quicker than dropping the tank.

Ignore the tape. Those were initial measurements but when I drilled the corners and dropped a drill bit through I could see they didn't line up all that well

I also have a storage box that goes on top so not too worried about the hole in the floor. Leaving one side in place too enables me to just told it back and forth.

You cut that hole just right. Could I bother you for some dimensions if you get a chance?

sure, I was gonna post them up when I install the new pump. At first glance I thought I had cut too high, but getting the fittings off the hard lines required the extra room.

Yeah, that's what I like about it, you pretty much hit it perfect.

was just looking through your thread again. Is that the standard 4l60-E 4wd t-case adapter between the trans and t-case? Where'd you get your SYE? Thanks

There are two adapters that are common. One has a four hole transfer case side for a 208 and one a five hole for a 241. I had to buy mine. Cost like $50.

The SYE is from jb conversions who were pretty much the only ones doing them when I did it. The flange is from high angle driveline. I plan on adding their driveline brake here shortly

The adapters from my experience are different. I may have the hole configurations mixed up but I know the 241 I used is a five bolt pattern. I found plenty of four bolt patterns in the junkyard but not five bolt patterns.

Just had this come up..... Was tuning a rig and didnt have enough fuel pump. What pump did you buy? Just want to make sure. Can you get a part number.

K, that is a 155lph pump. So thats 40 gph. 425 hp needs 212 lb per hour. Thats 35~ gph. 450 hp need 225 lb per hour. Thats 37.5~ gph. You should be all good.

In theory that pump should support 480 hp at the crank.

We maxed one out with the new combo real fast. LOL. New combo is gonna need 50 gph. All still based on LQ4.

I just sent you a data log of about 15 minutes of romping on it. Throttle is touchy and TPS seems to be moving around a lot, but truck has plenty of power. Freakin pulls like a scalded monkey. Awesome.
