Truckasaurus. The rebirth and resurrection of a fallen legend

You know I wasn't looking forward to it al all either but it was very rewarding and not all that tough. The American autowire Kit had some very detailed instructions.

I was actually using the obdmx wifi app that is specifically for my reader but same thing. I switch back and forth between that and dash command.

Yea I had to be like a tightrope walker to get the 15mpg.

Now that the engine is running great it is so tough to not just romp on it. Thing just pulls so damn good.

I have had this truck for over 20 years and thought I knew how it drives. Not anymore, it is essentially a completely new truck.

I'm in the same boat from a c10 to a k20 swap with a cammed 6.0
ya, been following your thread, but I sometimes get lost in the amount of details. It is an incredible awesome feeling to be essentially driving a new vehicle that I built. I have loved these trucks for years. That is the reason I bought one in high school. The fact that I have AC, cruise control, 450 hp and street manners is stunning.

Agreed, I'm almost to that step! My goal if you haven't seen is to do expedition off-road trips. I just watched the ultimate adventure and loved it!

that is my exact goal. I am not interested in dragging my sheet metal all over everything, I just want to get my family high up into the White Mountains, or Big Meadow in the lower sierras, or Eastern Sierras without any concern for malfunction, breakdown, failure or dumb luck

the thing is if you had told me two years ago that I would have been able to produce this I would have told you that you were high. I ate the elephant a bite at a time and now just suggest that everyone drop an LS motor into everything. ha ha

wow that is a nice block, you get to pick the wire and its lengths.. just trim and stick it in.. and shut up 100$ for a bar?? post a link or pm me one. I need one of these.

Yea the highway 22 kit is great. Everything is labeled and you terminate after the runs. Fuse panel comes with all the relays breakers etc etc. really complete kit and the customer service is excellent. I think I paid $350 for the kit.

Yea the bar is insane bright. I think I posted the link earlier in the thread

Been slowly working out the kinks in the tune, fueling and sensors. For some reason I have been going through fuel pumps. From what I have read it is almost as if you have to get a couple of bad ones until you can find a good one. I am going to be on my fourth one soon. One was DOA and two burned out.

I also have a knock sensor that is out of range. That keeps sending the computer into fault. Need to change those out. I put new sensors in when I built the motor, but just put Dorman in. Big mistake.

Last but not least, I have been working on a front bumper off the A-Bomb. Brain stormed with Kurt as to what would look best. He bent me up some tube, I welded it in place and cut and notched the support bars. One more to go. Spending a lot of time with the grinder. Ha Ha.

when my fuel pump died the other day, my buddy towed me home and used my stinger as the tow point. It didn't break off so I figure my booger welds are at least somewhat decent. Ha ha

I am planning on doing something along the lines of this on my A-bomb once I get all the sheet metal back on for a reference point.

Buy a factory fuel pump. Have had issues with non factory pumps.

Don't use stinger for towing. You have tow points.

Thanks dad. I wondered what those d rings were for. Wanted to test the stinger that is all.

And I am not sure what a factory pump for an LS swap into a k5 would be. Delphi? AC Delco? Walbro?
