thats easy match the flat 4 wire color code and white to ruck black for ground or to the frame . i upgraded mine to led also for better function .
Yep, that is why I left the factory harness in place. I may wire up the backup lights as well on this one with the 7 pin RV plug. That way I don't have to use an adapter on the truck end.
i always wanted to swap mine over to round 7 rv plug for the backup function .

My current truck came with a factory 7 pin on the bumper and I already own several adapters so I did not mess with it.
what i did on one i built was leave the e brakes connected pull the e brake pedal from cab mount it on front of trailer dont need wheel chocks anymore just set e brake unhook and go
I brought home a parts truck with a better match for the tailgate. Dropped it on there today. I'm not sure if it is the same gray paint color yet as the trailer is filthy.
I also helped a friend build another trailer from another parts truck. All that needs is to find a problem in the wiring, likely old splices that broke apart. Then we are swapping the 10 bolt and light springs for a set of 3/4 ton springs and a 14FF converted to a trailer axle.

I have one more I'm planning to build into a trailer and sell as well. But I'll need to find another tailgate. This one will be sold with the 12 bolt under it.
1/2 ton swapped out for 3/4 ton. My friend was busy working OT when I was wrapping up the axle so...
I see the axle flange caps. I'm assuming you cap the pinion too and just leave the housing gutted and grease pack the bearings? I have a truck I was thinking about turning into a trailer. I was even thinking about turning the dual saddle tanks into transfer tanks if they are in good condition. Make one for diesel and one for gas. Cheaper than buying a transfer tank and easier than a handful of gas cans.
@Truckman4life here is how i did my 14ff to trailer axle build .
bye by center section . used a sections of 4" o.d. 3.5" i.d. sch 40 and made the axle . later model 14ff are 3.48" o.d. and work better but metric wheel studs .
then engine freeze plug to cap the tube spindle tight https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=1060143&jsn=254 . cut the flange off the axle as i dont need spare axles . clean and pack the bearings as normal wheel bearings in grease and install new seal and good to go .
and if you use a late model 14ff make sure if its a pop off drum or rotor style you cut down a drum or rotor or get thick wheel spacers to take up the extra lip on the hub so the rim sits correct .

I bought a kit from @diy4x for $40 that caps the bearing hubs and pinion after removing the pinion, carrier, gears, and axle shafts. Then packed the wheel bearings with grease and replaced the studs with new ones.
i think kirt made the kit for me years ago first when i wanted them to block off parts for a axle that was going to media blast . but i could be wrong . its been years now since i had that done .
I swapped the canopy on the gray trailer out for the old lumber rack a few weeks ago to free up the white trailer for a camper shell.
This weekend I brought the gray trailer back in the shop for a little makeover. The expanded metal was broken down and held in by zip ties across the bottom.

I still need to build in the front panel and fabricate an upper tailgate.
i see a possible problem point i had on my first build . . . .
did you check the jack handle swing with your hand on it to the side wall of the spare tire ? my 1st trailer build i had it to close and it was super tight and had to hold it part way up as you spun it .
the mods and fixes look good tho .

This jack will hit the tire but a side crank style will clear. I need a taller Jack anyway. This one doesn't have enough travel.i see a possible problem point i had on my first build . . . .

Finished up the front panel tonight. A friend had some extra sq tube that I used to split the open space. This allowed me to use the remnants from the sides rather than cut up another new sheet. So far I've only used two 4x8 sheets of expanded metal.
Sold the white tailee to a friend and dug home a a dump bed parts truck to build another trailer.
