Twizted's Front Winch Cradle

So it will not fit mine then cuz mine are on the sides, but I can hang mine from a tree :)

Haha! Something like that :) If you decide you'd like to get the side pieces, I'll make you a set of brackets without the Tabs (no charge) - you can then cut the tabs off your existing brackets and weld them to the front of your winch cradle. Let me know...

I like the fact that the first set stick out to the side a little past the fender for protection, but I like the second sets tucking back closer to the front of the apron and grille. If you built the second set just a little longer out to the side to give a little more protection I would call it perfect. Once you have these done I want them. Will a Smittybuilt 8K winch fit in the cradle?

Now that you've shown some cradles with wings, I'm really interested. Will you be able to fab up the third version for the stock fender anytime soon?

Hey Jeff,
I'm not sure - I have no truck here with stock fenders on it! :) Since these "wings" only require the lower piece of the fender trimmed off (even with the bottom of the radiator support) - it shouldn't be that hard for me to give a really good accurate guess as to the fitment with the the full fender there.
I've got to give the Blazer back to my customer for the time being (we're supposed to get up to 10" of snow today), but I will get it back to the shop as soon as the snow is gone. I'll see what I can come up with for the stock fenders for everyone!

Darren--have you considered making the wings taller on the top side in such a way that they cover part of that thin piece of sheetmetal at the bottom (below the grill)? Something with a profile along the lines of a stock bumper? I like the wings with the fender trimmed off--I guess I should have mentioned the above in my earlier post.

Regards

Jeff

So with a winch on the way and the wings being created, I'm ready to think about allotting funds for the winch cradle on my 89 Blazer. How much shipped to 76543?

Hey bud, you didn't miss anything on the 1st gen frame style - I still have not completed a true design for it yet - every truck/Blazer I get at the shop has the frame horns already cut! However, I have sold some to people who have the older K5's and with a little trimming of the frame horns, a little drilling of some new holes, and possibly a little shimming, they will theoretically bolt up. I didn't want to promote it as being ready for the 1st gen stuff simply because I'd rather get a better design first, but it's not impossible either :)

As of this week, current pricing for CK5 members is $200 for the winch cradle itself ($25 off!) and $150 for the side wings (also $25 off!) plus shipping.

Received my cradle today, you guys have some weather going on there in CO. Shipped in a wooden box, wasn't expecting that. Packed well, good welds, looks nice and beefy. I will be taking it to the powder coaters tomorrow and then I 'll get some install pics. Great job ther mano!!!

So would mine just push the wings out further and leave a bit of a gap

True, but your shackle tabs also cover up one of the bolt holes... ...although someone with a plasma cutter (or cut off wheel in a die grinder) and a welder could, with a little effort, cut a notch in the wings and weld them on around the existing shackle tabs, and keep the shackle tabs where they are! :) Either way, you could definitely get them to work on yours - and my offer still stands to re-make your frame mounts without the shackle tabs. (And that goes for anyone else that has the shackle tabs welded to the frame mounts too!)
