Wanna build a DRIFT-Burban

I say have fun with the project, but weight and aeros will be the downfall. It takes a LOT to push a 5000lbs brick through the air... especially to do it faster than a Turbo Honda...

this would be easy to do.

here we go. see if you can keep up.

1/2 Ton 2wd Burb
572 GM Crate Motor w/ a TCI Stage 4 TH400 tranny
Drop the front end with coils and drop spindles
Convert the rear to a 4-link and use coilovers w/ a 9" rear or convert to a IRS setup
Gut interior, put custom dash w/ gauges, and then 1 race seats
Run some 18s up front with 20s out back

If you can make an El Camino a drift car I don't see why you can't make a burb.

I can totally appreciate what people are saying about short wheel base rigs. But for me. It's a Sub. I like the idea of screamin down the road in a HUGE.

I am actively looking for a cheap 2wd rig to start this thing off with. I bet that I could have it built over the winter and be out next summer putin' a hurt on tuner cars.

Keep the idea coming. I am making a list and checking it twice.

There was a guy selling a 91 sub 2wd with no engine along with a 78 crew cab SRW 4x4 and an extra 6.5l Turbo diesel engine for $2000, and he was in Washington, not more than a couple of hours from you.
I will look to see if it's still there I am sure he would sell the Burb cheap if he still has it.
The body was clean and it was all power.

Action pictures?
Don't have any. You'd have to go look at a couple drift sites for Bubba Drift. I know it was an El Camino w/ a BBC, Supercharger, and 20" wheels.

There is one 2wd for sale now in the for sale forum.
It's in SoCal so it's not that close but it's driveable.:D

If you're gonna do it, do it with gusto. Build a flat black ghetto bomber stripped down as far as possible, with windows so dark nobody can see inside. Put whatever engine you want in it, slam it to the ground and keep it sleeper. You're not going to win any trophies but you will definately catch people off guard. Plus it will make a great parts hauler and possibly even towrig. Make it look like any other redneck wagon, but with a lot more go.

omg!!!! i was going to do this to my sub but its a 4x4 and i wasnt going to screw that up. my bro has one of those nissan 240's. hes always talking about it. what i would do is put a 14b sf in the rear. switch to stiff coils. drop it 4 or 5 inches. put it on some american racing wide 20's some lowpro's. instead of a caddie i was thinkin a 454, 502... but a supercharged nos'ed LT1 would work out. um gut the interior like always. cage it. chop the top as much as possible, for looks and for top heavy sakes?... rear roll pan, front air dam. four racing seats for you and your buds. and kick some hondas a$$. thats what my plan was. or you could ditch the burb idea and throw a 350 in a s-10?

Oh ya enough horse power will make anything go sideways..........I forsee nothing short of a blown big block for a Sub Slider.

I was playing with a downloader with my cummins today........and damn fun getting that pig sideway on a straightaway

Heres the El Camino that they drift. They go by Cowboy Club El Camino.

I can drift my burb in the rain... CAddy motor and a locker and it will slide around the corners! Kinda scary though.

resurrection

Well I just picked up a cherry 90' burb'. I have a lowering kit and a set of 22" MHT - Neepers on the way. There is one spot of rust on the lr quarter behind the rear tire, other than that and the sweet flaking paint it's pretty clean. here is how it looks now. P.S. I'm going to do the cheapest lowering kit possible, the wheels kind of set me back. A lot. Stuff Like cut the coils, spring under in the rear make a frame notch... Ya know that kind of stuff.
