What’s your next build?

Too early to start the Furry Fury thread?

Yeah it is. I will start a thread when it's in my garage. Low buck to get it back on the road to begin, then mod from there. That means throwing the 383/727 in the car after a quick clean up and spritz of "rebuild in a can" (AKA Mopar turquoise), chuck a kit into the thermoquad, and cross my fingers it's not a giant pooch. If I'm lucky, this car has been reg'd and on the road after 1983. If that is the case, and I'm thinking it is, I won't need a full "out of province" inspection. That will save a lot of headaches!

I will take pics of the cat hair. "Furry" might be a good name for the car...

My next build will be to finish the Trans Am. It will look just like my Avatar. It's a 1978 Y88 Gold Special Edition Trans Am.
Pontiac 400, 4 speed manual. 79,000 original miles. Only 1267 made.
I bought the car March 8, 2006 and I've been collecting NOS parts to make it completely all GM. I am the 3rd owner.

I will start a build thread shortly to show what has been done since I brought it home.

This is what it will look like when I'm finished.

I’m actually almost done collecting parts for my second build.

Once the k5 is out of paint it will be done until I decide to redo the interior.

86 C10, putting a pretty serious 454 Gen 6 in it, hogged out ported and polished L29 Heads, Harland Sharp Rockers, comp cams springs, Air gap intake, 800 cfm Quadrajet, big headers etc

Well, considering I have my built K5 crawler that works pretty freaking good for what it is, and I have my V3500 that's built to tow and does that pretty freaking good for what it is, and now I have my SAS'd suburban that is pretty close to being done (just needs gears, front d-shaft, sliders and bumpers...which will be the plan for the rest of the year), I think I need to go a different route.

I have a drag strip about 15 min from my house, and I want to have something that I can take to the track and have some fun, maybe get into the low 12 sec range with, but also be able to drive it to car shows, or do some cone dodging, or drive it to work on nice days if I want. So I want to pick up a 4th gen Camaro. Preferably I'd like a 98-02 to get the LS1, and I want a 6-speed manual in it too. Do some basic upgrades to the suspension/brakes, and some relatively easy motor mods, and possibly have a set of slick-radials to throw on the back when I hit the track. Similar to the pics below.

Nothing is going to happen this year as I just bought a boat, but next year I already told my wife...it's gonna happen :pimp:

For stuff I Don't already have. What I would like to build is a pre 73, 4 door, ANYTHING. With a stockish 5.3/6l80e combo. As a better than my truck's mpg DD.

Edit: . Something along one of these lines... And possibly the car brands equivalent to my desired engine/trans combo.

Once both of the boys graduate high school, we'll downsize from the crewcab to a late 90's or early 2000's extended cab shortbed.

No more builds for me. I am too old to take on anymore projects. After over 30 years worth of project builds, I am too far on the down hill side of life to take on anymore projects.

67-70 C10 2wd. Full tube chassis. LS 6.2. Basically, an autocross street beast. Not that my K5 isn't a street queen already.

i might as well come out of the closet (so to speak) and state that my current "dream car" is:

86 Pontiac Bonneville
"regular"crate or vortec crate 350
wieand 144 blower OR 'brock e-force blower w/efi
OR dual tunnel ram with 2 rochester 2g's (would want to start "small" first, even though 2 of them can flow 1000cfm----500 each)

TH-350 trans Stock converter should be ok for now

Moser bolt in 12 bolt. Shouldn't need anything lower than 3.42 for the street

cragar ss: 15 x 10 in rear, 15x 6 or 7 front

Remember, this is the same as any other G body---cutlass, monte carlo, malibu etc., but the front end looks more sinister. And the interior is really luxurious and comfortable.

That'd be a sleeper for sure. Did a quick search and it appears they were 4 door only?

Yes, only 4 doors (and/or wagon until 83)

Those don't seem to be held in as high esteem as the chevy or 2 dr versions like cutlasss. Thus, you can get a good deal on them. It's INTERESTING to see BOP versions mixing it up out there with the chevys.

i think this could be a very budget, solid, easy to maintain hot rod with some performance for under 10K with all new parts exactly the way i described it. i'm thinking it could run 13's, possibly 12's.

P.S. Most pontiacs with v-8's after 81 came with chevy small blocks---because pontiac stopping making v-8s after march 1981. So the 350 would be an easy drop in.

Most Pontiacs here in Canada came with chevy power anyway. I'm on another forum and one of the members there has a '65 Pontiac that is a factory 409 4 speed car. One of the very last production 409's...

Only input I would have is not using Moser. They’ve earned a bad reputation for producing junk

Otherwise carry on. That would be a hell of a sleeper

I feel like if I didn't have my truck projects, I wouldn't be as active as I am. It's bad enough my 8-5 job has me sitting at a desk most of the time.
