what do you guys think of this efi kit?

Got the 600hp kit and just installed it. Started up first try. It's still learning as I've only put a couple miles on it. Install was pretty easy and straight forward. I already had the inline fuel pump and o2 bung so everything else was simple.

Glad to hear it!

Heres a question for you guys...

I cant get the recommended 30 micron filter in time. The next closest, reasonable filter is 35 micron. Im thinking along with the 100 micron I should be fine? 5 microns is a difference of 0.00019685 inches lol.

I think the FiTech filter shipped from Ohio when I bought it from summit so it took a few days to get. Can't you buy it direct from FiTech in SoCal? I'm pretty sure I saw an earls 30 micron listed on summit too.

How much time do you have?

It's sort of floating. I have a bad taste in my mouth about expected delivery dates. It says the 15th of next month. It's possible I could live that long without it but I'll be hot if they tell me oops next month we made a mistake.

I could try their site. The 30 microns I found were for carbs or they were $120.

I was just thinking you could probably make it work with a filter from an early 2000s truck/suburban and a couple mm to an fittings for few more bucks than the fi-tech filter. Then the filter price would be cheaper when you need to replace the filter and not the fittings.

I was thinking something like this filter: https://goo.gl/fPXAIA
Which is 4 microns.

I also see the downside of it being more parts/connections than just the billet filter.

If you're in a pinch I can send you mine. I won't need it until late July or early August

Ok thanks! Ill let you know...going to call them now and see what they say...maybe they have them in stock.

Yeah i think thats possible. The nice part about earls is they can be rebuilt...filters are 9 bucks.

I confirmed that the FiTech filter I bought on June 7th shipped from the Ohio warehouse and took 2 days to receive. Just let me know if you want mine, I just need to know before I leave next week for a business trip. I don't get back into town until the 16th so waiting until yours arrives is fine.

Here is some real world feedback now that I have been driving it around town. Here is the history of what fuel delivery I've used. First I had a mechanical pump with my Holley carb. I know nothing of carbs and know that when I got it from the PO it was set to idle very high. This kept it running smooth down here at sea level. But it never idled right when I tried to bring it down under 1000 RPMs. Also after taking it to the mountains/off road a couple times and having it die on me on ascents I knew I wanted fuel injection. So then I upgraded the fuel pump to a Walbro GSL392 and bought an old Holley Projection 2 kit off ebay. That didn't give my engine enough fuel, so then I bought a Projection 4 off ebay. That met the needs of my engine, but I could never tune it just right to get rid of the heavy gas smell when driving around.

So now enter the FiTech Go EFI 4 600HP 30002. Like I mentioned, first time priming and then cranking, it started up perfectly. Gas smell was all but gone. Throttle response was and is great, even better than where I got the Projection 4 to. I have yet to take it on a long drive. The longest I've travelled was about 10 miles each way on a trip with mixed city and highway.

Now here are the issues I have encountered:
-After a night the cold start seems to take 2 primes before it will start up
-When I shift out of gear into neutral/park the RPM elevates to between 1000-1100 RPM and then doesn't want to come down for about 30 seconds. I have it set to 800 RPM

-My truck wants to diesel after I shut it off. Know though that this has happened before with my rig, I've adjusted the timing and that seems to help, but not sure why it continues to fall back into it's old ways. So this is most likely not caused by the fi-tech, just seems odd that it started happening again. And my fitech isn't currently set up to control timing.

So there is a little update on how it's been for me.

How can a FI engine diesel? All I can think of is that the intake manifold is still wet. Either that or you have a leaky injector or faulty controller. The timing shouldn't matter since key off = spark off. And of course if it was the spark, that wouldn't be dieseling.

Thanks for the info. I am leaning towards that since it has happened before and that is one of the components that has remained across the different systems. I know it is an RPM Performer intake but I haven't seen model numbers on it, and was told it is an older version. It was put on before I owned the K5.

My K5 with carb used to diesel sometimes. Funny to park and go into a convenience store and come out with it still clunking. Only happened once, but I still laugh about it. Dieseling with FI does seem odd because where is it getting the fuel? Doesn't dieseling also imply something in the cylinders getting very hot, to set off the fuel? Maybe running lean?

That would be funny.

My O2 sensor is showing "rich" for most of the time I am running (or when I look at it), almost always below 14.7, usually hovering around the low 13's. I think my target AFR on the setup is 13.6 as well. The dieseling is only for a second or 2. Really need to run it some more and get some data logging from it so I can be less anecdotal about it all.

Side note: another forum recommends adjusting the Loop Rate settings to help it return to idle faster. I messed with it a little bit, but need to try to tweak it a bit further.

Bump bump. I just helped my dad install one of these on his 1969 l88 powered corvette. It's somewhere in the range of 650na hp. She's cold blooded too.

Started on the first twist of the key, which is amazing considering it usually takes 5 to 10 minutes to start.

Unreal. It went from a car that started like a 1969 to a 2009 instantly.

Hot august nights is this coming weekend. Its always a fight because of the heat and elevation change. I suspect I'll see a lot more efi then carbs this year...

Did you weld the bung on the exhaust or use that clamp deal? I know some people have had bad O2 readings with the clamp on bung.

We're waiting on the fuel pump/ filter kit for the El Camino and then we can fire that up. Still waiting on my kit and the other for the 57 Chevy.
