What do you stand on to work on the engine?

My feet. :D

Seriously, i stand or kneel on my bumper and lean over the radiator support. I have a boat floatation cushion i lay down on the radiator support first though because otherwise i leave all kinds of marks on my chest from the bolt heads and whatnot.

What, nobody else stands on the shoulders of their BGM to reach the engine?!?:eek1: Bunch of weirdos!:haha:

When I was younger and shorter, I used to work on Dad's Highboy by climbing in and sitting on the fenderwells. Now that I am 6'4" and working on Krusty, I stand on the winch bumper or use a steel milk crate when I am working to the side. I just don't fit under the hood comfortably any more.

I've got one of these that works pretty well.

I back my '05 up to the front of the Blazer and drop the tailgate. Works great and gives me 8 feet of room to put all the crap I take off from whatever I'm working on:wink1:

I like my milk crates, except when they slide out from under me at a real in opportune time and I catch my nutsack on the hood latch. That episode is quickly followed by seeing me drop kicking said crate across the yard.:doah:

I dont bother working on the truck from the outside. I have a nice bumper to climb up on and then I put one foot on the frame rail and just kneel near rad. support. If ive got carb work, ill put a big thick piece of foam on the A/C bracket and sit on that. yes, I got some goofy looks when working out in the parking lot. lol.

Don't use a 5 gallon bucket. Too unstable...don't ask me how I know.

x2 or a wooden kitchen chair that is already split on the seat. Once I slip I destroy the chair to make me feel better. I used to have a nice set of 6, now I have none.

I'm with the just sit in the compartment group. Of course, I'm 5'10", I can imagine it would be a little harder being 6'6"...

Have used a simple step ladder, too. Works pretty well.

another use for a front hitch. i made a bar for when i used to have a truck on 38s. but still comes in handy now that im a bit lower it so much better then using a step stool or whatever. cause i can walk from headlight to headlight
