what has been your best pic and pull find?

:D old late 60s caddy eldorado at a scrap yard the crew hadnt even looked at it other than to verify the vin had just come in good shape so i figured stolen or a family member junked it without the owner knowing maybe dead or prison or something. i gave the guy 350 bucks without him even glancing at it for a GM 572ci crate motor with twin prochargers and the built 400 for it. ill get the pictures posted when i can find them on the flash drives ive got

If it was stolen, they would strip that thing down before taking it to the junk yard. That sounds like something a family member would do.

Guy here at work found a custom Currie 9" rear axle with 5.13 gears and a Detroit locker under a scrapped out YJ. Brought it home for $100 to use under his Jeep project.

whats was left of a m1009 and 2 m1008s 1000 for the 3.. sold the m1009 for 2500. parted the other 2. long time ago

94' 4x4 bnv4500 for 230 bucks. That came with flywheel, clutch, bellhousing, shifter and tailshaft. took me half a day to pull it alone in the rain and i caught a cold, but well worth it. Ide do it again anyday.

I scored a lot of free parts when I worked in a junkyard, but there wasn't all that many chevy trucks in the yard I was in,I often had to go to one of the several other yards nearby that had them, and they'ed give me a cheap price or just say "eh--you take it off,you can have it"...they would visit our place looking for old car parts sometimes,so we just traded back and forth..I found a Fisher plow pump and joystick with all the cables and brackets on a Dodge 4x4 (around an '84 or so)--guy let me take it for 48 bucks, all I had on me at the moment,he wanted 60 for it...same guy let me take a nice rust free pair of barn doors for a Suburban (that had the SAME exact two tone paint as my burb!) home without paying first,to see if they'ed fit mine--but I was dissapointed to find they wont work on mine because it has a tailgate, without extensive bodywork--........................................................................................................so I hauled them back there--when I came in with them the guy said "told ya they aren't an easy swap on '78 and newer burbs, they changed the whole back of the truck---but I got a call yesterday from someone looking for those doors, and they were pissed when I said I think they were sold already"!..he called them back, and they came and bought them for 100 bucks--he was going to give them to me for 50!..he handed me 20 bucks and I said "whats that for"--he said "for your labor, taking them off for me,thats what I'd pay my workers to take 'em off!"..(first time I ever got paid for removing the "wrong parts" at a place I wasn't employed at!)...................................................................................................Most of the other things I had to buy at other junkyards not local were not much of a bargain...I bought a '72 NP-205 for 150 bucks at one place, found it lying in a truck bed ,it had a TH350 adapter on it.."as is" with no warranty..it did work OK though,thankfully................................................................................One day I was taking a tour in one junkyard I did most of my buying at,and the owner drove by me in a 1959 GMC oil truck,a big cab over job--thing sounded nice too,no smoke either...he pulled it into the area where they yank the engines out of cars, and he started cutting it up!..he cut the frame rails right behind the cab,as I was walking over to him--I thought "what a dam shame, this truck looks decent, hardly any rot"...then I looked under the hood, and saw a huge V8,with "W" shaped valve covers!..I said to myself-- "holy crap, its a 409!"..............................................................................................My older brother bought it,he was with me,for 150 bucks!...we later found out it was a 348,but we weren't all that upset,we figured no one else would know without running the casting numbers...but it ended up sitting under a bench in his garage for about 4 years, then a guy saw it one day and offered him 500 for it,so he sold it...
