Whats the thing you find the hardest to do on your rig/

The hardest thing to do would be just moving it. I'm still in the build process; no steering, no driveshafts, and 46" tires make it a pain.

Overinflate the tires. Make 'em good and solid. If you do that, I think it becomes easier to roll them around and make steering corrections with the tires. Long as you have a tie rod that is.

The tie rod is on so thats a plus, thanks for the suggestion. Hoping to have the steering completed this weekend, minus the assist. I need to go ahead and order the ram so I can get that part finished to.

The only "**** I dont wanna go do that..." things for me are underdash repairs, and interior repairs where I have to remove lots of brittle stuff..

The damn snow ball effect is the worst part of working on these trucks. I went to put a new intake manifold and dizzy on my truck only to find out my oil pump has over half inch of play in the shaft so i get to jack up the motor and pull the pan and put a new pump in the damn thing, so much for a quick job.

That and working in the dirt, i don't have a driveway at all so it's sheets of plywood and cardboard to do everything, i just picked up a canvas car port which at least keeps the ground dry but it's hard to get motivation to do anything when it involves crawling around in the dirt and grass, i'd kill for a 10x20 concrete pad.

Keep in mind that the oil pump intermediate shaft connects to the oil pump shaft with a nylon bushing and the intermediate shaft WILL have slop in it (1/2" side to side is probably about what it will have once the dizzy is out). :deal:

not re-engineer everything other than the radiator cap to the point of stupid labor... :doah: :haha:

AWESOME INFO thanks... it has so much slop I can't get the dizzy to seat, it's aligned properly but it seems like its hung up on the edge of the shaft... any tips or tricks...

Getting the motivation to cut thick steel with only a sawzall and grinder

Not turning a $800 squarebody burb into an $8000 DD/toy...

:eek1:

Factory am/fm/cassette? Headunit, components, 1000wrms subwoofer
350tbi spun a bearing? Vortec-TBI
7747 sucks for tuning? 7427
700r4 won't lock? (TCC, TransgoJr, another 700r4...) 4l80e
4l80e? Transgo HD2, Driveshafts, 32 spline np241
Paint? Rustoleum=bad, Epoxy/2k/urethane! [$$$]
Wet carpet padding? FULL SOUND DEADENING
Bad window seals? New rubber/felt all around
Stuck windows? New regulators & motors

Broken 10 bolt? AAM10.5, 64" springs, diy4x shackle flip
8 lug rear, 6 lug front? 8 lug rotors/hubs, rims, bigger tires
Too much rear lift with shackle flip? TC-HD front springs.
Too much lift? Driveshafts (again), Bilstein 5100's
Front gears don't match the 4.10 AAM10.5 DANA 60!
Dana 60??? CROSSOVER!!!

:haha:

But really, lifting the t-case sucks. Going under teh dash is pretty aweful, too.

Steering issues. I just dont trust myself even though I have never had an issue with my repairs or work. Just keeps me second guessing myself.

Haha, we all seem to put more money in these than they are worth. Sounds like you have your work cut in front of you

changing glow plugs on a turbo 6.2 diesel.
There are a few you need a miracle to get to.
Everything else has been a breeze, and I have done just about everything on these trucks.

Yup yup. It sucks but the worst thing on my 6.2 I have had to do is replace the injection lines that go from the back of the ip to the injectors. Had to re route all of them and bend them so they were just right.
