What's this on the intake manifold?

actually mine had a manual choke with a pull cable

That im not too sure about. Suppose it depends on what year you order?

Also, Im certainly not advocating you towards electric choke tho they do seem to work best in my opinion. I have also owned a few rigs with the heat stove style like would be correct for your rig and liked them just fine. They are a good design and work. Over many years of heat the metal seems to not respnd to the heat as well and needs replaced but no big deal. If it were possible, (and it is) i would stick with HEI and heat stove choke.

That's one mod I could live with...I would use either if I could get it...

wait a second......

What was the original question? I'm so confused. hahahaha

All you asked was "what's the triangle thing" and now we are talking about carbs. HAHA what did I miss.

To answer the question, it's a block off plate for your EGR. You don't need to run an EGR at all if smog doesn't require it. The TBI stuff needs it unless it's tuned for it missing. Carb setups don't give a sh1t about EGRs LOL.

Are you looking for a new carb?

Are you looking for a new carb?

I would like to put a Quadrajet back on it to make it closer to original...
I have three carburetors...wonder what I could get for them to go towards the Quadrajet?

Snowball!

most rebuildable used quads are in the $10 to 50 depending on what model, etc...

if your gonna have a carb, it should be the quadrabog...

Thankfully, we don't have emissions inspections here...and since mine is a 1974 I am exempt from catalytic converters and such...

If I can find one in the parts yard, where do you take them to get them cleaned and maybe rebuilt?

eh, that's becoming quite difficult these days... EFI has been out a LONG time, not too many carb shops around any more.. check the yellow pages, or you'd send it off to JET, SMI, etc... might as well just buy there's at that point...

it's not hard at all, we could walk ya thru a rebuild....... I can do em blindfolded... I used to do pairs of em on my coffee table at night for extra money back in the day...

haha, I'm so lost. Whole thing went right over my head. :)

See if you can find someone local to rebuild it, otherwise you may have to send it out.

I have installed carburetor kits a long time ago but the only thing I remember was my dad telling me to not turn it upside down and lose the "bb"s....
I am sure it wasn't a 4 barrel carb I was rebuilding...most likely a carb for a Vega

I need to find one for a core if nothing else...

kinda a "deathnail" for quads are bad shaft bushings.. if the throttle shaft has bore play.. kind of a nuisance to save at that point, but doable.. other than that, rebuilds are super simple...

Can you feel the bad throttle shaft by moving it?

usually, but it can be slight... that's the first thing I check... it's a side to side slop that's bad, the shaft wearing the bore oblong... lengthwise play is no big deal.. dizzy's are like that too...

Is this carburetor worth anything? Google says it is made for offroad use...looks like they run about $450 remanufactured...
