Whats your DD?

'94 c1500 extended cab. fort worh traffic sucks, but dallas traffic i even worse. since i have to drive in both, i get a lot of traffic jams and stop-n-go. under those conditions, 17-18 is normal. on clear highways at 85+, i easily get 25mpg.

since i went mudding last weekend, i don't expect better than 10mpg from the blazer, this tank.

DD is a 2000 Impala 9C1 (Police Package). Gets 25-27 on the highway, is quick enough and people move over to let me pass. :D

70' chevy truck custom camper model. factory big block truck but does not have orig. 402 bb, has 396 out of a chevelle in it. th400 trans, factory d60 rear axle with 4.56 gears.

take your pick .. I usually do. high teens on both for MPG.

I drive my 1985 K20 or my '98.5 Ram 2500 CTD around town and to the farms but drive my '95 Corolla to work since it gets 43mpg with 195K on the clock. With the price of fuel, I may be driving a bicycle before long

I'm driving an '05 Kia Rio. No options whatsoever. (not even radio lol)

I bought it because it has a long warranty. (and with another vehicle to spare, who cares when it's in the shop?) Haven't had to use that yet.

It's comparatively cheap for a new car @ $200/month, and supposedly I paid too much.

I don't care if it gets hit while driving it, while my truck getting smashed would be a very bad thing.

Easier to find places to park it in the city, and it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb.

More difficult to steal than the truck. Besides the fact I don't think anyone WANTS to steal a Kia.

It gets well over 30MPG in the city, almost 40 on the freeway.

However, unless you get a dirt cheap commuter, (not counting maintenance, insurance, etc, solely gas at $2.50/gallon) it will STILL take a long time to save the money solely from gas. Looks like it would take about 100 months of typical driving in this car for me to have saved money over driving the truck outright.

I hear ya on the bicycle!!

What I drive depends on where I'm going, and what I'm doing...if I just want a pickup to cruise in,and carry light loads,I use the 79 C10 2wd--it gets around 13-15 mpg with its 305/th350,not too bad for a full size gas powered truck--but its my "puff" and I try not to use it for hauling scrap or beat it up much, although I did help a guy take a tin shed to the dump in it saturday to make a few bucks--my other truck still had the plow on it,I was too lazy to take it off,and the rear brakes are dragging...

The "other" truck is my 82 K20 with a 6.2--its a workhorse,it plows the yard, makes me a few bucks plowing others driveways,--its a stepside,so the bed isn't that big compared to a fleetside,it has a toolbox that wastes a few feet of the bed too,so I cant fit that much into the bed...I love the diesels mileage,it can get up to 20mpg empty, and not much worse loaded down or plowing with it--but 2.35 a gallon for diesel sucks--not much savings anymore..

I also recently got a 95 Ford Contour with a 2.5 V6 automatic,I havent driven it a whole lot yet,but I got 25mpg with it on a trip last weekend--looks like I might be using it a lot more as gas prices go higher...

I have thought about getting a motorcycle, but I dont feel safe on anything around here without a cage around you!--I had a diesel VW Jetta that I loved, the 43mpg was great--but I felt like the other guy who sold his honda--I too felt like I was driving a Go-Kart instead of a car,and was terrified by all the 18 wheelers in it!--even the "Contour" isnt that big a car,and it feels like your on a skateboard, inches off the ground, compared to my trucks!--.

I might end up on a bicycle with a briggs and stratton bolted to the front forks if I dont find a decent job soon!..hard to keep all theese vehicles on the road without steady income...

I was driving a 97 mazda millenia- wonderfully comfortable car- Bose stereo, cruise, heated leather seats, power sunroof...

But the roads here were taking a beating on it. wheels, tires, bumpers, etc... (I do live in NYC).

So I sold it, and got a 83 Diesel burb. :) 20+ mpg combined city highway driving.

93 Grand Marquis-Black/tinted windows/2004 Linlcoln Towncar rims :pimp:. Bought it 6 months ago. Get 20 MPG or so w/ the 4.6. Runs like a scolded a$$ ape. Won't drive the truck daily with gas at this price, it gets about 8-10 MPG.

I had planned on driving the '81 daily in the winter, but with only 4-5mpg out of that stroker and $2.50+/gal gas (she needs premium), and the lack of choke making it not start or run below 30 degrees makes it impossible to run in the winter, so my parents loaned me their beater and offered to let me buy it this summer if I wanted, so Right now I'm borrowing the '94 Mercury Sable w/ 150k miles from them.

I also have a T-topped '99 Camaro Z28 6-spd w/ barely 48k on the clock (It had 42 when I bought it almost 2 years ago). She's my baby and only gets taken out in the nicest weather and only on the weekend or after-work. I "COULD" DD if needed, but only in the summer, and even then I choose not to.

Just sold my 98 VW GTI(avg aroudn 26mpg aroudn town) two weeks ago and bought a 99 Chevy Tahoe LT... DOH! Talk abotu goign backwards! LOL But at least I can tug my wheeler around. (when it gets done).. :D

I used to drive a c 2500 truck...that got 17 mpg at best...
Now I'm driving a Honda Accord...that gets at least 32 mpg.

I'm spending about half the amount on gas now. :cool1:

Used to drive 99 Tahoe til the wife swiped it (due to the baby) for a year I've been driving her 99 Sebring LXI, it's a nice little car, tricked out with nice 17" rims and good tires, handles good and is peppy. But eh, I'm stilll a truck guy, or at the very least a 4 door. I hate the little thing.

Ive been considering buy a 98/99 there really fast and get good mpg but I dont know if I could drive a car everyday...

truck in signature. 600 for it july will be 3 years as a daily driver when i go anywhere by myself or take kids some where. If wife goes 02 z-28. Her car our family sedan. Think the truck gets about 12 but never gets much highway miles. About 1 quart of oil every couple tanks of gas.
