I just responded to my build thread on this scott, but others might care as well.
I did just "resuse" a saddle tank sending unit, however I ended up after trial and error going with this sending unit:

It's still a replacement for my crew cab TBI 350 sending unit, however it had longer ports extending further off the sending unit than any other sending unit I found. And like scott has found, the saddle tank TBI sending units are a little different than the burban/K5 TBI sending units. Saddle tanks have a barbed end to just slip on a rubber hose and hose clamp like carb'd motors where burban/k5 tanks have the threaded fittings on the end. Those tanks are easier and you just get the adapters that @skunked posted earlier in this thread and run the new lines and your done (along with the EP381 pump). But mine I had to cut off the little barbed ends and slip on AN nuts/sleeves onto the line and then flared the lines. The reason why you really should get the sending unit I linked above is because with the other stock sending units, the only way to get the flaring tool on there is to bend the lines straight up, flare it, and then bend them back down. But when you do that it will cause hairline cracks at the bends on the tubes and it will leak (ask me how I know
).Hope this helps people when looking at other options weather with saddle tank TBI tanks, or burban/K5 TBI tanks.

Yeah, I'm not complaining. Just find it interesting how a thread can end up going an unexpected direction.

I think there are benefits of sticking with factory style GM TBI in terms of being able to find parts and get help with fixes. You can upgrade the computer with DynamicEFI, which is what I did. They modify the factory computers so you can easily reprogram on the fly and do some rudimentary self learning. My truck has been running well since I upgraded. FiTech (and similar) does look slick though and I'd seriously consider it if I was starting over.

I had been set to do FItech next spring but I keep finding stuff in reference to bad customer service, and FiTechs seemingly having outgrown production capacity and tech support.

I've only emailed them once about my fuel pump meeting their requirements and the emailed me back the next day.

I had a thought driving home today. Running E85 with the aftermarket EFI. I see FiTech supports it but the advertised horsepower it's capable of supporting drops quite a bit. I would assume the Holley system will to.
Of course the rest of the fuel system needs to handle alcohol.

i think i am going to order the 600 hp fitech kit. summit has it for 995 and then $100 rebate. I'm getting this next month. how many people are running this with a big cam? i have a 236/242 @.050 cam. it has a fairly lumpy idle. How well will this work?
