Why to convert to coil over

If you want to chase the offroad races like in Baja or keep up with the long travel Bronco 4X4’s you need to go 40mph on the chewed-up trails. Front coil overs on a Blazer helps do this.

As a pioneer of the coilover, bypass and air bumps on a straight axle, I have a little insight.

If money is no object and all of the guys you wheel with run them, by all means, do it. It is fun wheeling with like capable vehicles. Wheeling faster is a lot of fun. Also, links control any axle twist and usually keep the bounce down. Bouncing is what break's parts.

On the other side, leafs with bypasses and air bumps can be a lot of fun. The key is controlling the axles. At speed, this is done better with links.

Fab skills also play into links. It can be an expensive lesson to get it right.

But just remember, all of the cool guys are running links and coilovers.
Picture because I am picture whore.

Unless you are doing high speed, you may not receive the benefit from coils. And if you are the only one with coils, you’ll be going the same speed as the others
If you’re doing mostly crawl, good leafs and gear shocks will work fine
You saved me from typing all this.

My rig is completely capable I feel maybe I should just let it be ...
