WL: 1975 K5 (previously "Another new (to me) K5.")

....and for the sake of posting a picture to show that something actually happened, here is a backing plate.

I had planned on swapping to a set of 3.42 geared axles, but I really don't mind how this drives with 3.08's. So I did the unthinkable, and dropped a few dollars in a 12 bolt. New wheel bearings and wheel seals, new wheel cylinders, brake shoes, hardware, and adjusters. I feel a little dirty.

Pull them. My brothers wagoneer has a set of aftermarket front packs on it that never really rode or flexed that well, pulled just the bottom leaf and ...wow...what a difference.

The u-bolts came apart surprising easy.

Lucky for me the spring pins came part as well, because they were 3/8 pins, and I only had 5/16 pins on hand.

I also found out I was out of metal sawzall blades. A wood blade really struggles to cut off a 3/8" spring pin.

Done.

Looks good Martin! Does it ride better?

Corn look about like ours does.

Thanks.

That's sweet corn. I would be pretty disappointed if our field corn looked like that. Speaking of corn, our new combine showed up. It has a supercharger on it to blow air across something. Looks kind of funny.

Well I bought Glenn's rear shocks. Hopefully he'll sell me his front shocks when he changes to the Ford shock towers. This we'll be the first time I've ever ran "expensive" shocks. See if I can tell a difference.

I'll know more when I have them on all four corners (or even when I get two on the rear seeing as they haven't even made it to my house yet...)
