Throttle body...is that bigger on a Big Block than Small block or are they the same?

I believe the Prom is the difference. That being said, my 454 runs fineish on a 350 chip with more fuel.
The big block throttle body is bigger. People use the big block throttle body as an upgrade on small blocks.

Seeing that cast iron intake, with. the carburetor sitting so low really bugged me for some reason.
Stripped down, ready to remove the intake.

I even did the unthinkable, and cleaned and painted a couple parts.

I forgot to get valve cover gaskets, so it is on hold till Monday. I have a 454 Vortec Core with the nice aluminum valve covers, so I thought I would use them instead. I pulled them off the 454, and they were filthy. When I was cleaning them, the paint came right off one of them, and not at all on the other. I am contemplating using them anyway, just have to get them really clean, and then paint them.
Has anyone used them before? Do you have to grind the locating tabs off? Will the newer style rubber gasket work, or will it not seal against the older heads?

Hmm that is pretty sweet. 
Cleaned them up real good with some degreaser from the bar.
This painting **** really tests my patience.
Now the question is, leave them solid black, or sand the paint off the ribs on top?

You have to sand them. Overwise what's the point?
Well they are aluminum as opposed to the stock tin ones?
I am torn. I don't want polished, and I am not sure how to sand them down without making them shiny.

Tape them off and paint them argent silver with a small brush. That'll test your patients
