Would anyone be interested in CARC 383 green spray-on bed liner material?

I've had a couple of requests recently for CARC 383 green Al's Liner. I found a place locally that has the paint match in a standard automotive paint.

I gotta see if I can get the dye from them for it and see how good it comes out first, but if there is enough interest I'll pursue getting a bulk of it and putting it in stock in my store.

Normal Al's Liner is semi-gloss, but I can get vinyl flattener to go along with the kit so you could have a flat military green for your rig if you wanted.

Any interest? Any other colors or recommendations you might have?

hmmm may be interested. I'd like to see how the color looks. Is this something that is rolled on or sprayed on?

I assume you mean 383 OD, and not *actually* CARC bedliner :)

I'm just impressed you can find a local match ... I went through great effort to match the 383 when I redid my M1009, and it still ended up being too brown (more like the WW2 OD than the modern 383.)

I'm interested. Where can one find more info on the Al's liner?

Nevermind I found their website. I would definately like to see the results of the coloring.

so, let me be certain of the topic here, are we talking about an od green bed liner material or a regular od paint? if bedliner, I'd be interested, and curios about roll-on application and cost?

He's talking about a bedliner. Look for his post in the vendors forum about Al's liner.

I might be interested but dunno. Truck might not stay camo.

Yeah, not actual CARC paint, 383 OD is what I meant. :D

I'll try and grab some dye this week and spray a batch to see what the material comes out like. I hope it will be the correct color, but I'm not positive yet.

Al's Liner is a spray-on bedliner. I'm working on trying out some of the liner with a roller to see the results, we'll see how it turns out. Matter of fact, I'm going to go do it right now. :D

Back with results...and a million friggin' mosquito bites.

Initial results are positive! I used a stiff roller and poured the liner on and rolled it in and spread it out.

If you lay down a couple of coats it lays out really nice, two or three passes and it looks like a Herculiner would. If you lay it out thicker it smooths the surface out a lot to the point where it is lightly rippled. I think it may lay out flatter over night, I'll check it in the morning and see how far it went. I'm guessing it is probably about 3/32" or so thick, maybe 1/16" thick.

I just looked at your site... looks like pretty neat stuff and the kit is dirt cheap with the spray gun. How big of a compressor is needed to spray it on?

You can actually do it with a pretty small one. I've had customers spray it with a 10 gal 1.5hp one with no problems.

The stuff is cool because you can actually have a bit of water in the lines and it won't affect the adhesion, strength, or finish of the liner. You can drip sweat right on an area you are spraying and it will bead right off as soon as the liner hits it. I do it all the time, my PA body still hasn't adjusted to the NC heat after 18 years. ;)

Excellent info, I will be buying a kit in the future. Sounds like my compressor will work :D

Just give me a shout whenever you're ready. I've got a shop full of it. :D

Here ya go! Don't mind the smudge on the big panel. I stuck my thumb in it before it was dry.

It's tacked up and this is the way it will always look. I think the key is to lay either a thinner coat and wait for it to tack, then lay another thin coat, or just be happy with the roller texture.

It is a wrinkle finish, not rough at all. The texture is very similar to a rough plastic molded piece like rail caps or bumper steps. It is very grippy, though. I was amazed when I threw a 22lb box into the bed of the truck and it just stuck. :D
