Xj steering shaft

When I did this same up-grade in my 1991 V3500 Crew Cab I went with a steering shaft from an early 2000 Chevy Express 3/4 ton van that I got from RockAuto. It bolted right in.

Was 74* in garage when I took that picture, shorts and flip flops, since March.

Edit traveling day I like to drive the wife's sports car bare foot:burnout:
:saweet:

So it needs 3 kinds of sanitizer? Who wears flip-flops in April? (or ever?) I've got 6" of new snow outside...
Just got sanitizer thing duh, those were in my daughters car, mostly leaked out into cup holder. Threw them up there when car got the shop vac treatment

Anyone know if that same shaft will fit a 72 Blazer steering column and the splines on a 2wd steering box?

The short answer is no, the column has a splined output shaft rather than the hollow shaft with two flats.

I used an '01 express van 3/4. No melting plastic, just bolt it in.

That’s a nice option. Any pictures of it installed?
When I did mine, the slip shaft helped because of my body lift.

That seems about right. I can’t find my order but I just looked up a 2004 express steering shaft and ordered it. Like mentioned, the only thing I needed to do was make clearance for the bolt on the steering wheel end. I just used a small die grinder. Installed in my 87K5.
