You are doing WHAT to a 1968 SAAB?

Been working on interior.

Old skanky door panels are skanky.

Cleaned up and sprayed with fabric and vinyl paint. They came out pretty nice.

Prepped for carpet. Finally found one. Should be here Monday. USed Reflectix from HD Racing. It cuts the heat, a bit of sound deadening, and it's cheap. One 25' roll just covers it.

Painted the rest of the interior parts.

I still need to make side panels to go in the sides behind the seats. The current ones are too far gone, plus it would look stupid with the built-in armrests when there are no seats. Either doing masonite with vinyl over it or just textured ABS sheet painted to match the door panels.

Got the parts buffed this Saturday and started assembly. Teaser pic-taken with a potato. Can't wait to get it on the ground.

One fail on this swap has reared it's head. Can't remove (or install) the rear tire with the fender in place. I was able to remove the one upper control arm bolt, roll the rotor back and get the tire in. This will probably become the SOP for tire swaps. One bolt, doesn't mess with alignment. Oh, well.

Lol that thing is awesome!
I can't wait to see a video of it hauling arse!

Not a lot to report. Got the carpet installed tonight. I powerwashed it yesterday. It's dusty from me walking around in there but it's decent. Surprising to have to trim a Miata carpet to something that is even smaller than that.

Door panels back in.

Before

After

Started on dash install. Waiting on heater control from another Miata guy so I can cut the hole in the dash I made. I cleaned house a couple months ago and threw away three heater controls. Little did I know that I threw away ALL THREE that I had.:doah:

Man, I'm just loving this! How on Earth you took something that (imo) was so un-cool and made it cool is beyond me! Heck, I don't dig Miatas or anything of the sort at all (no offense just imo again) but you've convinced me with this job! I really like your perseverance too - you a project manager or something?? :D

One of the Miata guys in Sweden on Miataturbo.net just scored me rear tail lights and backup lights off of tradera, which is Sweden's Ebay. They are really hard to find in the states in good condition but easier in the motherland! Price with shipping should still be less than finding them here.

Hope to see them in a couple of weeks! Email him, he bids online, paypal him, parts arrive. I love the interwebz and forums in general. Heck, he bid $150 of his own money without ever knowing me. I did the same for a guy in Turkey. He wanted a "big bore kit" (80cc) for his 50cc scooter but they wouldn't ship overseas. I bought it, received it and shipped it to Turkey and then told him how much he owed me. It was a couple hundred bucks. My wife doesn't understand how we can trust people on forums in other countries. It's the community and you get a feel for people.

So awesome. Keep up the good work. I'm looking forward to seeing your end result. :thumb:

if I recall years ago a member here over in Sweden I think wanted a lower grill filler panel . I had one and gave it to him he just paid shipping to his friend in the mid west with a over sea's shipping container headed over to him . its how we all keep the hobby going :thumb:

Damn, those two-piece front turn signals are pretty damn hard to find. We lost one at a rally and ended up replacing ours with the more common one-piece lenses.

Yes, I have one two-piece and one amber. There's a NOS amber on ebay right now. Going to hold out for a two piece for a bit.
