How do you like those springs under the 454?
been saving my pennies for a set...

So far so good on the springs. 8" fronts, 4" rears w/ diy shackle flip. Bilstien 5100 series shocks. $1100 for the set. They make pretty much any other, non custom springs look kinda dumb, lol. Best riding, street driven, lifted square body I've ever riden in.

Looking forward to what you can do now that it's just outside your door. Digging the progress man

Thank you sir. :)

This day is a big deal to me, a milestone I guess. During my hiatus, I had some problems that I almost didn't make it out of with my heart still beating. Literally. PTSD from the military reared it's head and started having its way with me, threw me down a road of dark rage, depression, homicidal and suicidal thoughts. Crippling rage...the kind that had me hiding in a closet, under a blanket away from the world. I've lost lifetime friends, several of them. There have been times when I haven't gone out side my house for 2-3 weeks at a time, for fear of killing some idiot in a fit of hulk rage. I have been diagnosed with it, been in and out of pysc doctors and VA appointments for 2+ years. The rage has peaked I suppose, and I'm more or less good to go now.

Getting out, doing things on my own, without help, without someone poking and prodding me to do it, is such a huge thing, that today, I was sitting in the shop thinking about it all, and just cried tears of relief for 15 mins straight. This is one of the best days I've had in the last 2+ years of rage, hate, anger, despair, depression and solitude.

It is good to talk with you guys again. <3

I went out and spent a couple hours removing the factory engine cross-member and motor mount plates. I forgot how much I missed grinding frame rivets. :eek1::flipoff7:

I had planed on bolting on the ORD engine cross-member...but after dicking with it for way to long, I almost tossed the stupid thing into the woods. :flipoff1:

I think I'll be making my own fabricated parts from now on. Every time I order some fabricated part, I end having to modify the hell out it to make it work with my truck. One mounting hole lined up. ONE. :dunno:

ORD engine crossmember for sale, cheap. :doah:

Anyways, tomorrow I think I'm going to work on the firewall. Strip it mostly bare, fish the harness and computer out of the dash, remove ac/heater box, clean firewall up and maybe paint it. Might remove some misc brackets from the frame. Bump stop brackets etc. More rivet grinding....goody. :doah:

Yeeehaaa! For the first time in my life, I have a welder up and running and shop/workspace thats mine, where I live, my house, not my gramps or someone elses house or shop. Took me almost 39 years to achieve...holy balls you have no idea how good that feels. Wooohoooo!!

Nice. Congrats Joe! :waytogo:

You will really enjoy welding.... Post up a few photos of your welds as you go, and I'm sure people can help you figure out your heat, wire speed, travel speed, etc.

:haha: :haha::haha:

Just kidding. Don't post weld pics. You'll just make everyone else here feel like total hacks.

Lol jethrobuilt ftw

Getting the harness out of the truck without cutting it was a bigger job than I anticipated. :eek1:

But the firewall is mostly cleaned up and good to go.

Worked out a deal with sweetk30 to trade my ORD swaybar disconnects for him ordering me a couple of bushed DOM sleeves from Ruff Stuff for my motor mounts. As soon as they arrive, it'll be on to mock up for new motor mounts and cross-member. Waiting for payday too, so I can rent an engine hoist.

Anyone wanna make bets as to how many times I have to stab the 8.1 in there, for test fitting etc? I say atleast 8-10 times. :O

Joe, you want to borrow my hoist, it's yours. I won't need it for some time to come.

You're still driving that little beater beside the big one? Wow!

Yep, that little Nissan won't die. '04 Frontier ext cab, 2wd, std with the 2.3 i4. It has about 9hp, so it's almost impossible to break anything. And I'm not nice to it. Yesterday, I was trying to run over and smash an office chair and couch in my driveway with it, so it would fit in my gramps truck for a run to the dump. Buckled the exhaust trying to dislodge the couch from underneath were it got stuck and pinched it closed. lol :doah::haha::haha:

That's the rig you drove when you came by here a thousand years ago. Just amazed its still going. :doah:

Cool to see you back. I had no idea things had gotten that bad for you.

Yep. It sat for a year in a storage unit while I was in iraq. A new battery and it started right up, popped, farted and smoked for a bit, but was good to go after that. It sat in my driveway here, untouched and un-driven for almost a year, while I drove the big one around. Rats ate about 75% of the aircleaner and part of the plastic housing, built a nest in the throttle body.

I went to get it running one day, and it wouldnt crank over right...sounded like there were no spark plugs in it when it was turning over. :O Thats when I discovered the rats handiwork. Throttle body was 100% blocked by rats nest and rat shiz. I shoveled most of it out with a stick, fiired it up and let it burn up all the rat **** and whatever else was in there...the smoke coming out of the xhaust was VILE. But, it still runs like it did when I got it. It looks funny riding around with a 8.1 AND a trussed 14b in the back. Looow riiii....der. lol

Thank you. :)

There was good reason most people didn't know how bad things got. A few of the CK5 duders had a clue, Eric (blazinzuk) and Mike (Nosmog73)are a couple I can think of. Keeping all of that to myself...well, remember the end of the movie The Incredible Hulk? The one with Liv Tyler. Where Bruce was shown hiding out in a cabin in the woods? Thats what I was doing...mostly for the comfort and well being of others.

But now....I more identify with The Hulk like this-

I came through one of the worst fires a human being can go through, came out the other side tempered, strong, as wise as Gandolph and as bad ass as Aragorn, with a little Bruce Bannister and Dr. Henry Jekyll/Edward Hyde thrown in for flavor. Anger and rage as a tool for creativity and good and positivity is one of the most powerful tools a human being can harness. Just like the Hulk. It's a rush, battling with the rage... like dancin with the devil. ;)
