Zeus

Damn, time flys. I just went to the beginning of this thread. You only pick this truck up 5 years ago. My blazer last ran 6 years ago.:doah:

I thought Zeus was older than that. Didn't help KidJethro only posted a few post in 2014.

I found these pictures while browsing over on Pirate. I reaaaaally like the way this guy did his crossmember, or if it's a kit, I like the style for sure. My brain blueprints/plans are very similar.

Also, I think I'm going to pick up a bag of walnut shell blasting media and blast the frame rails, firewall etc with it. That should take off all the rust scale and goopy undercoating mixed with 25years of dirt and grease.

That is the TNA crossmember. Totallynakedauto.

Darren is a vendor here and he makes very nice stuff.

Bushed DOM sleeves from Ruff Stuff showed up today and I rode out to NorCal69's place and picked up an engine hoist. Cool dude, definietly the kind of guy to have in your corner. Thanks to him and SweetK30 for the help.

Mike is a good dude, despite the fact that he wears flip flops when fabricating. :thumb: :haha:

Dude, it makes me fast without all that extra weight holding me down in the garage. That's why my rig is years ahead of schedule. :waytogo: :doah:

Ha! So do I my friend, so do I. We both do apparently. :smokin2:

It's nice to know I'm following in the footsteps (get it? :haha:) as the legend of fabbin' Joe Rollins. :pimp:

Awesome finally meeting up with you yesterday, Joe. :waytogo:Give me a shout if you need a hand dropping that bad boy in the dooooly some up coming weekend.

So yeah...You know your engine hoist? It sucks ass. Like...stinky, dingle-berry encrusted ass. :haha: :eek1: Tomorrow, I'll re-engineer it, so that it doesn't wheeze, pop, fart and try to fold in upon itself, trying to hoist an 8.1. :O

Got 8.1 bolted to the tranny and started figuring out how I'm going to do the mounts-

I would have made more progress, but I also had to fix up norcal69's engine hoist too. Still needs a gusset here and there, and the rear wheels need to be moved outboard, but otherwise, almost good as new. :pimp1:

I'll probably get the motor mounts finalized tomorrow and start/finish the crossmember.

Yes, it certainly did. :O

I just grabbed some scrap stuff out of my milk crate-o-scrap, and boogered that stuff together. 3/4" grade 8 allen bolt, with 3/8" wall DOM for the hinge. A big ugly chunk of rusty 1/4" plate. I have no idea where the allen bolt came from...I'm a hoarder of such things. :O

It worked out because while working on the hoist, I discovered that the roll of mig wire in my welder was a rusty mess and therefore un-usable. About 1/3 of a 33lb spool of .035, good only for tie wire now. :doah: Fortunately, I had a brand new 33lb spool of .030, which I like better anyways, so just had to change it out. Would rather have found that out now, then when trying to tack a motor mount together etc. And I haven't really welded much of anything in years, so my mig trigger finger was rusty, needed practice. lol
