The 47802 IS the correct alternator for your rig. Someone might have switched the style of alternator in your truck for some reason or another.
 
Ok, well atleast I know I ordered the right part. The harness on the truck matches the old alternator though. I guess a trip to the junkyard is in order. There is a '90 'burb down there....mostly gutted though. Maybe I'll get lucky and that harness will still be there.
 
Joe, just for reference THIS is what the plug on your truck should look like and is what the 47802 uses.

That is NOT what the plug on the truck looks like. That WOULD fit the new alternator though. The plug on the truck currently is just two simple blade terminals. I guess I could go out and take a picture now...I keep forgetting that its right outside.

Then you've got an SI style alternator plug on your truck which someone had to change over to for some stupid reason and you can use THIS adapter harness OR change the truck back to what should be there (wiring wise).

Yep, wrong alternator on the truck and even mounted on the wrong side of the engine for the given year of your truck. You can see that the alternator bracket is booty fabbed also as there is at least one bolt missing because it's not the correct bracket.
 
Well, the engine is out of a later model 'burb. '93 I think it was. Maybe something got mixed up in the swap. :confused:

Either way, I gotta get the new alt swapped into that spot. Because of my time constraints, I just can't spend even more time, finding the correct brackets, relocating to the other side, trying to make it right etc. I will at a later date, as that kinda **** is irritating for sure.

That adapter you linked to will do what I need? For $9, I'll order one right now. I'd probably cut the plug off the truck and the 10si end off the adapter and just splice the correct end onto the existing harness. Any problems with that?

Joe, for now I would just buy the exact same alternator that is currently on the truck since i'm pretty sure the mounting bosses are in different locations between the SI and CS style alternators.

The current alternator I believe has mounting holes 180* apart from each other and the CS style are not.
 
I've already bolted the power master in place. It bolts in just like the current one. No issues there. The only problem is this plug.

In that case just order up that adapter and be done OR hit the junk yard and cut the plug off a truck and look at the wiring first to duplicate on your truck.
 
Adapter ordered. I'd rather just wait for it to be delivered than go cruisin the junkyard in the rain and mud looking for somthing like that. Call me lazy if ya want. :haha:
 
I'm posting this from my phone, so no pictures right now, but I am sitting in the truck at a gas station on the michilens. I have picturs and a small video that I will post when I get back home to the computer. I will say this- the truck and tires were quite popular at the tire shop this morning.. :)

Actually, that is the correct parts for a '90. This is a 454 remember. I don't think there was any square body truck with a 454 that got a true serpentine setup.
