the governor assm looks different from the 1st vid to the second vid. the angle of the flyweights is different, and the gear itself looks a different size.

same or different?

Ok...damn you Scott-

One of these days I'm going to learn to trust the man when he tells me something is either wrong or right with my truck...He's been schooling my ass like this for years. :eek1::haha:

~edit~
I had to re-encode the video to rotate it 90*....and somehow it got all stretched out and lost a LOT of quality. Yuck.

Same one.

Notice the red text...lol

When I recorded the second video I had to use my phone because the camera batteries were dead. I held the phone in such a way that the video was sideways. Had to re-encode it just to rotate it back upright. Turned out lookin all wonky afterwards.

I'm going to redo the video and repost one that doesn't look like ass.

Ah I didn't notice that line. and it really does distort that bugger. all the dimensions are whacked out.

Ok, re-recorded and uploaded video. Much better quality, HD if you select it, and a little of the Motor City Madman to livin things up a bit. :pimp1:

Edited to first post with this video too.

gotta say, that is one damn clean floor.. haven't seen anything like that in Joysey since these trucks where 5 yrs old..

It ought to be clean, he just got through washing it out in that bog hole.:D

In my old Jeep, I just ran metal floors with a hole drilled on each side to let out the water.
It spent lots of time under water crossing streams and creeks.
When I got my new truck, I took the mats and backing out after the first stream crossing and replaced them with a heavy rubber mat.

I sprayed some heavy undercoating in the floorboard, and stuck the mat in before it hardened so moisture could not collect under it and cause rust.

Pulled the front diff cover and found this-

:eek1::haha:

That was due to a non existent breather line.

New breather line, a good douching with the hose and 3 cans of brake clean and it's good to go. :pimp1:

That's why I hate deep mud and water, it goes everywhere you don't want it to. Starters, wiring harnesses, dips and crevives in the frame, gas tanks, body mounts, everywhere. Just a mess that literally isn't clean 2 years later when you tear stuff apart and mud falls in your face.

The ATSG manual came in yesterday-

Also ordered my rebuild kit. Time to start educating myself. :D

Hope your rebuild goes better than mine. It only lasted me 3 weeks.

Truck looks awesome. Reminds me of my 88 SRW CC. Same alternator on that one, by the way. Keep up the good work.

lol!

I'm not too worried about it...There's about 10 bazillion parts inside one of those things, but that ATSG manual breaks it down almost barney style. No problem.

Yeah the only downfalls of the ATSG manual are it assumes you have all the special tools, most of the time there is a way around that. But you still need certain things anyway. Also, it doesn't show you any upgrades at all, zilch.

Dual feeding the directs is darn near free and doubles 3rd gear capacity, the torrington bearing in the tailshaft is a good upgrade, 34 element sprag (with a drum that is 3.159" or larger) is a definite upgrade, etc.

There are some good threads about upgrades here...

they helped when I learned TH400s a couple years ago.

Thanks for the links. I had already found and bookmarked the nastyz28 link, but the other is new. Appreciate it.

Chompin at the bit here. I really wanna drive my truck again dammit. I'm gonna go finish up the trans temp gauge install today. It's only 90* outside. :eek1:

About 75% re-assembled-

The rest should get done tomorrow.

It's hot outside. And it sucks.

What kinda goodies di'ja put in it?

As far as rebuilding the internals, everything stock. Clutchs, steels, sprag etc, all stock still. The valve body got a Trans-Go 1-2 reprogramming kit and bigger holes drilled in the separator plate. I have a TCI deep aluminum pan, installed an Autometer trans temp gauge and will have a Hurst V-matic shifter when it's finally complete.

Did you dual feed the direct clutches? It's pretty much free and doubles your 3rd gear capacity. I would of least went with the 34 element sprag, but I guess if your leaving the engine stock and maybe swapping out the whole setup down the road it doesn't matter much.
