Update: I installed the SS brake lines & Master cylinder. I ordered this pitman arm to correct the steering, drag link angle at full droop:sja-ca50_w.jpg
Part link:http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SJA-CA50/?rtype=10

The guys at 4WP asked me WHY I wanted a drop pitman arm for a little 2.5" lift. Look at the pic above to see WHY.

I went out of town last weekend, my buddy who was watching the dogs cleaned up the garage for me!

He is a good friend, I went to Costa Rica for a week, he stayed there, no problem. When we got home, my GF's grandfather passed away & we had to leave again! He stayed again with no problem. When I was out he took the dogs on hikes, and he cleaned up the garage. He has been teaching me to weld. The guy even picked me up from the airport!

How to determmine gear ratio.

I cracked the case of the differential gear ratio mystery.
There is tons of threads about how to tell what gears you have. The most common way to tell is to lift the rear end & count the drive shaft revolutions per the tire revolutions. Here the process I did today:
First of all my RPO code is QG1 which is standard but I didn't what the standard was for my rig.

JIMMY 087.jpg After safely lifting the rear axle I marked 6 o'clock on the tire and drive shaft as a starting point

JIMMY 086.jpg At 1 rotations of the drive shaft the tire mark is at 9 o'clock

JIMMY 085.jpg At 2 rotations of the drive shaft the tire mark is at 2 o'clock

JIMMY 084.jpg At 3 rotations of the drive shaft the tire mark is nearly back at 6 o'clock

JIMMY 083.jpg When the tire rotation ended at 6 o'clock this was the mark on the drive shaft.
According to the tape my gear ration is a little more than 3:1 , this would most likely indicate that I have a 3.08:1...

diff gear ratio

JIMMY 082.jpg So I cracked the case

JIMMY 081.jpg That's my locker

0227111500a.jpg The magic numbers were 13 and 40.
Now 40/13 = 3.076. This means my gear ratio is 3.08:1.

JIMMY 080.jpg Paint your diff cover every time you change the fluid; when it come time to repaint it your about due for a change.

fender trimming

I never posted my fender trimming.

JIMMY 015.jpg I cut the fender back to the firewall and added the 1 inch strip

JIMMY 014.jpg I also welded the 2 pieces together all the way down to the bottom.
It don't need to look perfect, I'm just gonna go bash it on a rock or something.

There is a 4x4 training center out at the site where there are several obstacles for you to test the limits of your rig.
