17 Ram 3500 DD minor upgrades

Truck turned 100k miles Thursday. Driver side window switch broke with the window down. Called the Dodge dealership to see what the new bezel would cost. Nope. Backordered. Went on the mopar site. Not available. And $130 when it is. Called O'Reillys to see if dorman had anything. Special order, 2 weeks and $145.

Checked Rockauto.com and A1auto.com. Nothing.

Amazon, which I hate buying from, "in stock", $30. Ordered one. Was supposed to be here today, they failed.

Rolled the window up so I could wash the truck by taking the old bezelmand switch apart. I am amazed that 3 wires are able to control both windows, the door locks and the power mirrors.

Saw a Ram truck the other day with the Chevy tow mirrors I have a the K5. Noticed it right away over the “I am Cornholeo” regular mirrors. Dunno if they make the conversion or that person did it. Thought about ya haha

No no, I wouldn’t expect that. It was covered early on lol
But I’ll tell you driving with the convex mirror on the bottom sure does help. Even my van is that way. I can’t see it working as well vertical. :dunno:

I spelled it right, then changed the i to an e after going back and looking at Brent's post.

Never saw the show.

I’ve had my Dodge since 05 and the only time I’ve ever flipped the mirrors up was when I washed it. Personally I find the viewing area to be horrible with them up.

Yes! I can’t stand my mirrors turned up. I agree the view is worse and they stick out so far I worry about hitting them on stuff, it also makes me spend too much time hunting for the little blind spot mirror.

I may need to get a regular job, as I have not had time to do this stuff. Taking this entire month of September off.

Getting ready for the trip to Colorado, then Utah. Needed to wash the bed out. Then noticed the oil spill, so I degreased and pressure washed the bed. Sprayed degreaser on the back of the bed and pressure washed it off. THE TRUCK IS WHITE. So this turned into a 2 hour wash. Now I am waxing it. I have had the truck 1.5 years and this is the second wash.

Tomorrow is the passenger exhaust manifold replacement.

You've washed your truck? I just painted mine dirt colored. Haven't washed it in years now. lol

Added a jump start plug to the Ram today. This was left over from our towing company in the early 80's. Saved it after dad passed because, "I might use it some day". Today is that day.

I have 30 foot jumper cables with HD clamps. These were used on our tow trucks. This way, I can jump start generators, food trucks and run my trailer winch from the truck. No more dead jump box, hauling a battery, or jumper cables shorting out as they fall off during use.

Rotaing tires at about 10k miles too late. Right rear was missing a lug nut. I have not had the rear hub caps off since it bought the truck. Ran seven back on. Picked up a new nut. It won't even start threading on. What is the chance that I run seven back on over good studs? Pretty good, evidently. Pull the wheel back off. Pull out the thread files and clean it up. Goes back together as it should.

I won one today because of a lazy tire tech. At least he did not try to impact gun a nut on.

For the first time in my Ram owning life, I had to flip the mirrors up. 102" wide box trailer.

I don't tow big stuff like that but I have a couple of trailers and I've never been able to tolerate driving with the mirrors turned up, they make me more self conscious about hitting the mirrors that watching the trailer.

I’ve only “needed” the towing mirrors for my camper.
The oem smaller mirrors are nice with the electric controls and retraction option!
