that was my dad's call, i was just going to do black, but this will add some color and surely piss off some purists on both sides:D

That it will! :haha:

Looking good! :thumb:

That's one thing that always kind of gets to me though...is the big wheel weights on the out side.

I`ve got them too. Ugly! But whatever, everyone has them.

I got the tire shop to put stick on ones just on the inside on my wife's old Toyota that we were very picky with how it looked. But I think they are harder to balance that way. :dunno:

thanks!

it's at that point where things are moving along pretty quickly which is exciting

Yea i guess the other alternative is the inner stick on style but they run the risk of coming off

I could always paint these real quick without too much trouble as well, just tape off around them and shoot it with some black spray paint

couple updates
got an original owner's manual off eBay, thought it'd be cool for shows or whatever

Been leaving this thread hanging but here's how she's sitting now, actually a little better than this now but you get the idea.

Also got a radiator, it's out of my buddy's old sprint car.

There's a lot of other things finished up and in the works, I'm working hard to have it driving by the end of May.

Subscribed so I can come back and post pics of my brother's 46 ford rat rod (that's what the cab was from that you were originally using).

Keep up the great work!

got my through-the-fender exhaust exits done and mocked up a black tip to see how it'll all look

they pop out in front of both rear tires, just behind the running boards and opening faces forward

made the trim rings on my buddies lathe and used six 10-24 button head cap screws to bolt them in place

and I know i cut two 3.5" holes through original vintage steel but that's the beauty of metal, you can always add more

I dig it.

It's also yours. Do with it as you want. You own it.

I had to hold the back of the pipe in the picture for it to look "right" otherwise it would be sitting at a funky angle without any support behind it.

At the time I was in a rush to leave for work but I'll throw some bailing wire around the back of the pipe and hang it off the frame to get a picture further away.

ah, didn't realize it didn't actually have exhaust.. now I see your arm.. was trying to get a perspective how/where it looked on the body...

I like the look, but the opening should be facing back I think. The way you have it would scoop air and pack it into the exhaust creating more back pressure, whereas the opening towards the back will create a dead air pocket to help pull the gasses out. I think a better idea would be to rotate it and have it semi-flush with the trim ring, as it sure appears to be a bit of an ankle biter sticking out like that.

I love this build, just don't have much to add, so I have just been watching.

I agree. Other than just want to say damn you. I've even toying with the idea of thru the fender tips the past few days and that doesn't do much to make me not want to do it lol. Carry on.

I was concerned about the air scooping effect as well but after looking at it turned both ways, it looked better this way. At least for the sake of mockup.

It's hard to see in the picture but there's a lot of curving and tapering away of the fender that you can't really see.

With the tip facing the other way makes it stick out even further.

What I'll probably end up doing is cutting the pipe with less of an angle so it'll be more flush with the body.

It basically has to come at a perpendicular angle to the body because there's only enough open space behind there for it to run straight back and turn 90° to connect to the rest of the system.

Another idea I imagined in my mind was having no tip show but instead have a mesh screen sandwiched between the fender and trim ring, but thought it might be too subtle and im not really going for subtle on this build.
