1966 Chevy C20

But that changes the driving experience. That's why I want to keep the manual brakes and steering. The main reason for looking at discs is laziness. I know I won't want to mess with the drum brakes because they are a pain.

I hope you're not trying to apply logic and common sense to my project here. :rotfl: :doah:
I actually understand. I'm doing the same with my chevelle. I've got 8,000$ in suspension and brakes but manual booster and manual steering:doah:

If you plan on swapping the rear axle, I would go for one out of the GMT800, (I believe) . Get one from behind a 6.0 and have the discs already. There are ways around the panhard rod being hooked to the differential area. You put a longer one on with a bracket mounted to the axle tube. The newer acke will have the better park brake vs the one in the caliper.
If the frame width is correct, I would go for the swap to the '73 and up front suspension.
:waytogo:
When I really get to daydreaming about truck builds I think about how I could swap the 66 over to the 73. Then I would find a K30 frame and put the 73 body on that with the running gear from the crew cab.

Manual steering doesn't bother me until I get into a parking lot and try to park in between cars. :doah: Better to just park in the boonies and walk further.

I need a tilt column for my long legs and manual steering wears out tilt coulmns faster. So I suppose I'll have to switch that up.

How big is the steering wheel in a car? The pickup has a 17" diameter steering wheel.

Yeah it's a monster. Always hit my legs getting out and feel like a trucker behind the wheel. The plan is power steering, quick ratio box, ditch the rag joint for a u joint, smaller wheel, and tilt.
I'll do the whole thing at once.
That's probably a year or two down the road. I want to "enjoy" the manual steering for a bit. :rotfl:

Then you'll better appreciate the work it takes to do the swap.
For sure. I would think about doing it now, but after I spending the money I did, I'm kinda over spending money on it right now. I need some return on investment before I keep going.

@bix, looking at the color of the firewall in both our trucks, the colors are pretty close to the same.

Except mine has pre 80s metallic disco in it.. still trying to hunt down my paint code without a rpo sheet.

Logic!?? :rotfl: Who needs that.. I like old trucks because they are old. I advocate for keeping the old stuff, but also upgrades are fun so it's quite the fine line for me.

If it only has one line coming out of it does that mean no proportioning valve, and both axles see the same amount of braking force?

Yes, early drum brakes front and rear were like that

One thing I like about this old stuff, stupid simple.

So you want to live in a simpler time so you buy an old truck and then carry an iPhone?

:rotfl::screwy:

Is your favorite sandwich joint, subway?
iPhone?! Don't insult me, I carry an Android so I can do neat stuff with my phone. I know you're just a kid but there used to be this country song that talked about "high tech redneck"; that's me.

I'm a burger dude. I'd probably say 5 Guys.
