1968 C10 DD, project "New Tricks"

have no idea what that is
pulled the battery lead off for a day, does that count? lol

Also, I would love to attempt this. Old script Chevrolet valve covers as coil pack covers..... cause it's cool.... and the coils are soooo damn ugly.

congrats...... light at the end of the tunnel and all that... ;)

Yes there is a way to reset the throttle. I'll find the procedure and post it.

Looking awesome by the way. I think I'm going to need something "not4wd"!

Interesting....

Was looking through all the old posts and came across this picture. I don't have the black plate that covers the brake pedal bracket. Hmmm pretty sure I never had it either. Been thinking of making my own that spans most of the driver's side of the dash, just to hide everything better. That is, as long as it looks good.

If you have a standard transmission that black plate is the stop for the clutch pedal too.

I want to that with some finned M/Ts, the steel scripts may be easier though cause you can weld on them if needed. You have any more info on that setup and how they mounted them?

I have one more plate thats not in that picture that blends in with the gauge bezel and seals up the bottom of the steering column. It fits like ass though so its cleaner with it off. Mine came with an auto.

Here is a picture of one of those column covers. No they don't look perfect, but these trucks were not highly refined when new. The standard is different today. (IMHO ) I like the fact that it covers the hole under the column. It also goes on top of the lower part of the seal at the instrument cluster / column. I think that you may be able to make something that you would like better, if you want to spend the time.

You already have the plate that serves as the pedal stop installed. It has the holes for clutch and brake pedal bumpers.

I would take a picture of the cover in my '72, but it isn't installed right now. I have it sanded and haven't gotten back to it to paint and install. .... too many distractions.

Yep, I have that installed and it doesn't look bad at all. Just one of those pieces I had powder coated in a large order. The only bummer is I'm not running the rubber grommet thing around the column. Since I sunk the column into the dash there's no room for it. You can kinda make it out in the last page's picture. In NorCal's picture above, you can see where the large part of the column sits. Now find mine and you'll see it up against the bezel :D

I may try making something to cover the gap left by the missing rubber piece, I'm sure it will look better than now. But, that's low on the list :D

NorCal: I don't have any info about the coil covers. I've just seen a couple end pictures like this one and heard people talking. The only guy that took it on and was going to show the process hasn't done a damn thing in 2 years. lol

With center bolt covers it shouldn't be too hard to attach it to the coil mounting bracket studs. Center bolt covers won't look anywhere near as clean though.

Are those big block covers? I can't tell from the angle

Those buddy seats are awesome!
yeah, was worried I might not like sitting in them but they're nice. I might throw a piece of plywood between the frame and seat so the foam bottoms out on the board instead of sink farther down. Theres no springs. What little time I drove was comfortable, looking soooo farward to driving it more

I think they reproduce those script covers now.
They do. The ones in the picture look taller then the originals I have seen, but it's hard to tell. I am just curious if the coils will fit under an sbc valve cover. Guess I just need to give it a try
