1968 C10 DD, project "New Tricks"

Yeah, I figured with trailing arms I wont have any axle wrap. So I guess that 2° is good?

First time Ive ever driven the truck. I'm used to 185-195 as a running temp. Serious Ben? Factory is 210?!?! Hmmm I wonder how thats gunna play out. My fan ran the whole 15 mile drive home and the weather was nice and coolish. :/ The ECM controls the fans

Yes, I blamed it on my 4 core radiator. Thought about trying to get it to 210, but is the 5.degrees worth it?

THE UPPER HOSE IS SUCTION!!!!!!?????? I thought maybe I read that somewhere but thought nah.... no flocking way, that's moronic. I'll have to check the level.

How the hell do I deal with my loud ass fans running all the time? I'd rather throw a 180 stat in and program it gezzz

I can't tell you why they went to 'reverse flow'. I found it out years ago with my wife's old all aluminum 5.3. That was nerve racking trying to get coolant back in it after a water pump swap. Her Envoy had the radiator cap below the bend in the upper hose. But you should have it better.
I believe that you can give a little lienency to the gauge versus the thermostat relationship. A couple of degrees of variance on each is ok, as long as they don't stack up horrifically against your total target.
I think it is just something that you will figure out and make it work the way you want.

What temp are your fans set at? You might have them set too low.

Some updates...

Got my MAF cut into the intake. Disconnected the old sensor for "speed density" and plugged the MAF into the harness. I was told it will start reading like normal. (yes, I disconnected the battery to remove the MAF code and let it learn the new sensor)

I like putting it in the middle of the tube. These kits come with them smashed up against the filter and I don't like that. I'd think there's a lot of turbulence in that area.

To recap the tail light problem. Damn things wouldn't fit right and nothing lined up. So I cut out the tabs and got some pieces of metal welded to the back side of the tail lights.

Before..

I also painted the outer edge of the housings, cause you see it between the lens and sheet metal. I hated that. Now they are both straight and slightly "Frenched" in a little, about 1/4".

I don't know if it's gonna be an issue or not for you maf sensors are placed in that location for reason. That's where they're designed to be and are calibrated at a certain amount away from the throttle. Hopefully it's not an issue

PS. I sanded the black paint off the flat part of the housing. Need all the reflection I can get

Hell, I've seen a lot of swaps with a tiny filter, then MAF, then TB. No tubing, just connectors, right in front of the radiator. Not good either. Time will tell if it's a problem. It's the farthest away from the TB that I could put it, without modifying my original mount. I bought another kit off eBay. I might use the tube to run the filter down towards the headlight. That's at the bottom of the list though

I am going to pretend that I didn't see how you were particular, ( there could be other words to describe it ) about your taillights. Otherwise I may possibly have 2 trucks to fix. ( maybe more) I get particular enough on other things! LMAO!
That looks good though!

hahaha, it drove me freaking BANANANANANANAS! I could only got the passenger side on before, the driver side was way screwed up to the point I couldn't get them in. This "fix" wasn't that bad at all and I'm super happy with the outcome. Would have been free if I didn't have to pay a welder, but I couldn't do the job he did, they came out great. I doubt anyone will ever know the difference, but I didn't do it for that :D

Hey, throw a picture of each 67-72 you have. I wanna seeeeeee

Well I was thinking about it today, and I figured out why the taillights were like that. It also lead me to the fact that my trucks are the only ones around my house that have the problem yours did.
My son bought his truck from my dad. It has the trim package.

Well I will start with the truck that hooked me,,, the picture is not good, and the truck is still torn down right now. But my dad bought it brand new as a 2wd Cheyenne, we make it a K10 in 1992.
My son bought it from him 2 years ago.
