1968 c30 "Papa Smurf" prerunner build. links, beams, and turbo

Why not just run the military takes off if they are the same size???

I'm pretty sure he is going to be running this in the sand, so I'm sure airing down is a concern.

Plus the average age of those tires is getting up there.

Look at my left rear tire.

8 psi on a 16.5" wheel.

Do you mean the old stamped 8 lug wheels with safety bead?

If that's so I'm not sure it would be cost effective with his current 5 lug pattern

Yes.

I forgot about the wheel pattern, I was thinking it was a 1 ton yet.

The bfg and Goodyear military tires are still great tires. I have run both and prefer the bfg. When I bought my last pair they were considerably harder to get for a decent price in decent shape.

Yah mostly rim size, age, and balancing issues. Being this is a go fast rig. Ive never personally seen a set of military tires that ran true and didnt have balancing issues.

Got word beams and radius arms are fully welded so should have things mocked up this week.

Couple shots of the spindle assembly welded...BEEF!!!
Uses a d44 snout and hub assembly. I went with a ford 5x5.5" to match the rear 9".

One really nice thing about how he builds his beams is if i ever want to change or upgrade to a bigger snout/hub assembly i can cut out the backing plate and weld a new one in to accept the new snout.

Are they just building beams or are the doing shock hoops, steering etc.

Doing beams complete, mounting shocks and my bumps, dual swing steer setup, and steering column into the cab. When i get the truck back all i ahould have to do is buy shocks and bolt them in and put on a quick disconnect steering wheel and front end is done.
