1972 Cheyenne Super K20- -LQ4/NV4500

Drove the truck today, I think I made a mistake. The clutch kit from the sm456 was brand new so I reused it, both 10 spline. Is it possible the the pressure plate for a nv4500 has different clearance? Drives good clutch slips terribly.......

I reused my same SM465 clutch when I did my NV4500 swap. No issues.
I think you might have the wrong throw out bearing or something.

LuK LSC265B Clutch Slave Cylinder throw out bearing

Same one that came out of it?

Hopefully just has brake fluid coated on it. I’ll use some brake clean on it later. Pedal grabs all the way out tho

Did you pull a dumb like myself and put the disc in backwards. You know the one with the big sticker on it that says "flywheel side"
Had to really sit down and reevaluate my mechanical abilities after that one lol.

Well I suppose anything’s possible.....I definitely know it says that. Had that clutch in and out a few times tho....

I feel like it would have different symptoms. What symptoms did yours have?

It's been years but it was definitely slipping. Also feel like it made some noise from the springs touching the crank bolts or something.

I did search for a noise on first start. Thought it was a vacuum leak

Bleed the clutch again. Soaked in brake clean, to clean flywheel. Nothing changed. Something is spaced wrong. Throw out bearing must be to thick for the 465 clutch

Hate to say it, but you are going to need to change the pressure plate, which you should do the disc too. The internal slave 4500's take a different clutch due to the height of the slave. I've done some research since I've picked up the same style of 4500 you got. If you get a clutch spec'd out for the truck you took it from, it should work. I've not found a difference in the slaves to address the issue, just the different pressure plate.

Ya thats kinda the conclusion I’ve came to. I have the clutch from the donor truck here. I should have paid more attention. The fingers are definitely different on the pressure plate

Glad you could see that. Had you not I've got the clutch that came with my trans to take pics of. The fingers don't look like the old school non-internal slave variety at all.

I actually thought about using this pressure plate :dunno:

Held it up to the good clutch and realized the contact areas different. Even the nv clutch on the Sachs 1050 flywheel don’t have near they amount of contact. That all lead to this mistake
