I would go down in height just slightly myself.
But I would advise to remember the impact on revolutions per mile difference, if it is a factor for you. I'm not surhow much of a height difference you are looking at.
 
I decided on 255/70r15. They won't have them until Monday so I just got a plugged tire for the weekend.

I would have liked something a little taller but there aren't a ton of options in 15" wheels. If I really want to get nit picky, I should go to a larger wheel size.

I did want a little more RPM so that was a factor. The other thing I wanted was a width better lined up with the wheels.
 
After a couple of days I'm liking the tire size in regards to performance. I think the effects of the smaller diameter matches up with the torque converter better. It's more peppy. Driving home in a very strong headwind yesterday I could easily hold 65 without it wanting to unlock the converter which was an issue before.
 
What size is the factory? I put those on my 85 C10 with a stock tuned 5.3, 4l60e and 3.08 gears it drove really well and was pretty quick. It would blow the doors off my 82.
 
I'm looking to replace the blower motor; it keeps blowing the high speed fuse. I noticed on RockAuto there are a ton of choices for an 85 C10 vs my 73. Anyone know what the difference is? Can an 85 blower motor be used in my 73?
 
I think they are different
Did you look in your 89 to see the bolt pattern?
 
I haven't measured, but they "look" the same. I was thinking the difference might be the squirrel cage depth or how it locates on the shaft.

I went through this once before with a motor that spec'd out of an 84 to use for my 77
I remember returning it to the Delco box and putting it back on the shelf
I think I'd be more inclined to check closer, like the pattern wasn't exact or something

Eating the fuses means higher than normal amperage
Can be either the motor or the switch not carrying enough amperage
Without numbers to resistance test each, keep in mind that either could be the issue or cause failure to the other
 
Yeah I was thinking it could be something else. In general the fan seems to run fine, the only issue is the fuse blowing. Maybe I should just bump the fuse up 5A.... :whistle:

I just looked at all the model year C10s 73 - 85 on RockAuto. A couple of the brands show up on all of them for both with and without A/C. The GM Genuine option is listed on ALL the years except 73.
 
High speed goes through a relay correct? It does on my '72 and also in the eighties trucks. The switch turns the relay on for high speed or off to back through the resistor pack.

I have seen some blower motors that have a different hole diameter for the motor cooling tube, or whatever you call it.
 
No difference from 73-87 that I have seen other than AC vs non-AC for the squirrel cage. In the 80s, they also added the cooling vent tube for the motor.
