1974 K10 Dirty Sancho

Saved from cruel and unusual punishment
if that’s the most debatable thing I’ve ever said then I’m doing pretty good.

The cool thing about this truck is the ability to leave it in 2wd for that same experience yet I still have 4wd so I can make it to camp. Win win.
From my experience most of the fun is from the lack of traction, suspension, tire size, toss in some uncomfortable body roll and you have yourself a time. I have hooned many a old junker car of sort around my family's farm. And also old trucks in 2wd drive.
Hell I even have done some in my 76. The experience just isn't the same.
Back in my younger days me and my friends would get junkers and we would have races out out in the fields in winter. I would take the tractor and my snowplow, and plow an oval out in the snow. Then we would go out their and run the oval with these 100/200 dollar, or free cars we would find. Anything from a 76 diesel olds, to a 89 4 cyl fox body, to a 84 k car, and everything in between. It got a little extreme at times. But compared to a truck that even had the slightest inclination of ability..... no comparison.
Its basically the same as saying its way more fun driving a slow car fast then A fast car slow.

So you admit to driving a diesel....

I think the fun will be sneaking up on sports cars with the warmed up L29 giving it the go go on the clutch pedal. Mustang owners don’t like getting gapped by a 6000 pound square body

We used the animal’s winch and yanked the chassis up under the cab. Had to pull the rear wheels off to drop the frame lower so it would clear the frame work we built. From there it was strategic jenga getting the cab back down on the frame. We kept chunks of 4x4’s in place of the body mounts and yanked the truck back behind the gate so I can sleep without worrying about it.

You really are making me go with 35's huh? Thanks a lot.

I love the progress though.!

I've always like the look of 35's on these trucks.....thank you

Nice progress!

thanks & feels good to have the chassis and cab united together. It's also nice to have some garage space back for other activities.

Before I pulled the cab off the C10 I removed the seat along with the crusty carpet in preparation to cut the floor for the shifters. The floor has some rust, no holes so I should be able to wire brush it and lay some preventive coating(s). I'm also going to swap out the heater core while I have the interior out and the coolant system open.

This cab being a 2wd auto it has the short hump like my 84 K10 (C20 cab) so I'm familiar with the shape and some of the clearance issues with the clocked NP205. However that truck has a 1" body lift and it's an auto whereas this truck is a manual without any body lift. Below are some pics of the SM465 poking through the 2wd tunnel with the 4x4's in place of the body mounts (body is sitting high). I'm pretty sure the body needs to move forward an inch or two, I was trying to keep the firewall away from the distributor during the cab install. The 4spd/NP205 hump I scored from @Capt Ron then I blasted the panel and shot some primer on it.

Cab is bolted down. Needed a little more trimming than I thought but it’s nothing some sheet metal and a welder can’t fix. Tomorrow the fuel line will show up for the filler neck so the bed can get bolted down too. This weekend I’ll jump on the wiring, front clip and cooling.

I was going to ask if you had the missing chunk behind the removable front portion. I had to add that to my cab as well.
