1976 C-10 Stepside Shortbox - Beagle's Build

That was kind of the point I was making about swapping intakes... it took me 9 months to decide if spending 8.99 on a intake manifold gasket kit was worth it....

And you criticize my statement that it's not worth dumping hundreds of dollars into new tires just to get matching rims? :haha:

That's different. No one sees my intake as I drive down the road.

True. I'm pretty sure you'd hate my intake setup, too. It's far from pretty under that hood.

1 more vote that Campy needs matching wheels.

New rubber will be great when it happens. I'll be sure to share a picture when that day comes. Till then, I can't mix and match 16" tires and 15" rims. :dunno:

Friday I had a 1/2 day off. Spent a good chunk of the afternoon dinking with the truck. Nothing notable. rerunning wires with new zip ties, bleed the brakes, pedal felt low, and etc etc, anyway I am feeling good and I texted the wife. "I'll wash up the stepside and we will cruise down to the Dog n' Suds ://dognsudsgrayslake.com/
for a dog and a root beer float.

Of course I got an enthusiastic "yes!"

So it was a date, I got the truck washed up and went down and tossed a full tank of petrol in.
Came home parked and grabbed a shower.
Wife came home, put on my best Snap-on T-shirt and we were set.

Went to the start the truck and the key went forward.....loosely... nothing to stop it. Sh!t the cylinder lock finally went out. I had bought a new one about a month after I bought the truck, as I like to change those when I buy a older vehicle. Although I have never put this one in. I told they wife, give me 15 mins. I can fix this. I grabbed the replacement lock and the steering wheel puller. A few minutes later I hit the lock plate and realized I need to run to auto clown. I get back and get the new lock in. Sh!t same thing still going on.
I traced the problem to the ignition switch actuator rack.

So I run down to O'Reillys, tomorrow,
Then auto clown, Tuesday,
And finally pep boys. We will have to call.

Really, no one stocks these? An 8 dollar part....
I call back to O'Reillys. Get it here.

They didn't call yesterday until 6.
Stopped by today after work, picked it up and headed home to do battle.

I also had to buy one of those little tilt wheel pin pullers.

Good grief, what a horseshit repair.
But it finally got rid of that craptastic wheel, I had a forever sharp wheel waiting,
although it doesn't quite fit in yet. once I'm done with the rest of the interior it will make more sense.

Once done I went to go celebrate with :burnout:!

I've been finding more and more that while you can still find the random parts that you need on these trucks, you just have to wait for them. No one really keeps the stuff in stock anymore.

Finally got this out and it's been servings DDs duty's for a week now. I hadn't got it out because I was busy with the move.

Today it helped me with a Craigslist score.
( Which will show up in another thread later)IMG_20170708_122654437_HDR.jpg

I thought I would do something alittle fun for once, so I clay bar'ed it. I think it turned out pretty good.
And claying it didn't take me as long as I thought it would.IMG_20170708_144317304_HDR.jpg IMG_20170708_144306455_HDR.jpg

And I even spent some time cleaning the bed. Last fall I parked it under a tree and it got a bunch of leaves and crap in the bed strips.IMG_20170708_092743919_HDR.jpg
