1976 C-10 Stepside Shortbox - Beagle's Build

My car isn't a race car. I have dailyed it a time or 2 and the engine on the pump gas (the bottles tank has 114 octane in it). It is hotter than what some guys drive but Meh. Hell it only ran a 6.20 last time it was out and approx 1025hp should be way quicker even if it is a 3800lb full interior car. Needs about 2k in leaf springs and coil overs.
Oh and a wagon would be a every day driver to haul kids and such. I figured 500hp and 550ftlbs should be fine for everyday. I mean right now I drive a 8.1 with 340hp 510ftlbs or a K10 with only a 320hp 383, so my commute is fairly boring. I was hoping for a little fun. Now just to figure out if the parasitic losses of a 496 at 1200 is more than a 454 at 1500. I think i love rpms a bit to much to build a 496 for a streeter.

Not sure about a truck with a manual anyway, it is so heavy you can't have the gears be too low or you would have to slip the hell out of the clutch to get going then it would be deep for the street.

Sorry to hijack your thread beags, but at least its tranny tech that might help big block people.

But if you want an OD stick shift for an autocross someday I can see how just keeping it simple with the TH400 might make sense.
no thread jack. It's tech. I was pissing and moaning before because of people telling me to do this or that.

I think am OK. Everyone says do it once or your wasting money now. Well most probably don't realize I currently own 11 vehicles. I am sure one of those could use a Turbo 400 down the road.... Everybody has their own path.

When I do it I want to build my own 6 speed. So I can set my gears.

Also one or two times isn't a daily... Once again perspective...

Well I can call it what I want and justify it however I can. I don't believe in "race cars", they can only be moved on trailers and have a specific job. I like having options. Some time a guy just needs to drive his full roller big block to work just to prove he is a free American.

Curious why no one mentioned boost in regards to torque.. It's the great equalizer.. But a bbc with boost is plain nuts :)

I like the T400 I would stick with it..

Probably because its never been on the table so to speak in this thread. Probably should keep it that way. I have no plans for boost or nitrous.

You should consider a small n2o shot. I know it seems like cheating but the engine you are building would be a great candidate. At least pick a cam with the proper lobe sep and open the rings. Then you always can later.

Lobe separation angles will be close as I am running efi. Efi doesn't care for much below 110. But none the less pretty sure I don't need n2o for the street.
Although I always wanted to buy a sneaky Pete system and put on something. Just because.

Not to continue my derail but my pile is a low 11 high ten car on the engine. On the bottle it is running a traction limited 6.20 (approx 9.80). I can turn on my 150 first stage and 300hp second stage if I ever get traction and it should be making 1200 flywheel HP. It completely changes the ride. A 125 shoot would be a fun addition with a bottle behind the seat and the plumbing hidden in vacuum lines and the heater box. Remember the longer the feed lines the softer the hit.

I didn't realize the sneaky Pete system doesn't have a fuel solenoid. I am not sure the fast ez efi could learn the lean condition fast enough. Not sure I really want a bottle behind the seat.
I have daily driven a car with a bottle in the trunk. Not really convenient when stopping for dog food and grocerys...

Well if you have a bottle, you know what it is about. I would cut the bottom out of a tool box but sleepers are my thing.

EZ EFI isn't rated for use with NO2.
