Thanks guys. I just put my final coat of marine spar on the wood and should be able to assemble it mid week. I plan using the bed so I hope the wood holds up. I'm also going to do something different instead of angle strips.
I'll also try to take more pictures of my interior. I really like the way the black vinyl dye turned out. I'm going to give it a chance but I'm probably going to switch out my bench seat for a modern seat.
I also installed all new weather stripping from 1a auto. I found out my doors are from a 80-85. 1a autos customer service was great. They sent me the correct vent window weather stripping and a return shipping label.
I have driven the truck a few times now and all has gone well. I still need to figure out a few wiring issues though. My front right blinker doesnt work but it works when the flashers are on. All my other blinkers work including rear right so I dont think its the blinker relay. The rear lights also go crazy when my headlights are on. Hopefully I can figure this out this week.
My Dikota Digital gauges speedo and fuel level are also off. I need to calibrate the speedo and it looks like something is wrong with my wiring for the fuel level. Once I figure this stuff out, ill install my cluster bevel and take more pictures of my interior.
I also installed my grill and front end trim peaces. The grill is an aftermarket grill I bed lined.
I also started bolting down the wood bed.
I am going to use L track for the side strips. I need to fab up l brackets to bolt it down.
I know my shifter came from a np208 truck but I thought the same shifter was used for the 90-91 k5's and suburbans with 241c's. I have been running the truck with the shifter all the way forward. I thought this was 2hi but after looking into it more tonight I might be wrong. Can anyone confirm this? Do np241c passenger drops go 4HI - 2HI - N - 4L?
I wish I was driving the truck out in the snow. I need to get it registered and insured.
Wiring issues resolved itself when looking into it. I think the issue was within the steering column though.
Thanks for the shifter info. Not sure why I was second guessing myself.
The last thing I need to do is figure out what I'm doing for tires. I think I'm going to stick with the 35's but need to find 4.10 gears. As front brakes are all new, I want to stick with 6 lug. Is it worth switching to a Dana 44 to be able to setup crossover high steer? I already have the 2wd steering box.
I need new tires before I get it inspected and need to figure out what I am doing with the rears before getting new tires.
I bought a 6 lug 4:10 dana44 front last weekend. This is exactly what I wanted. I needed 4:10 gears and want to be able to setup crossover steering.
I am still stuck on what to do for the rear though.
Option #1
re-gear my 12 bolt
pros: already have 12bolt and I would learn how to re gear
cons: dont have a press or other re-gearing tools (backlash and pinion depth checker?)
88-98 6 lug semi floater
pros: would only need to change spring and shock mounts. Can easily adjust pinion angle
cons: listed for $900 around here. I could probably get it down to $500 but the prices still seem ridiculous.
convert 73-87 sf to 6 lug
pros: might be able to find one for $300 but would still need 6 lug axle shafts and brake setup
Couple more reasons for a 6 lug SF 14 h2 electric locker works in them I have seen them on eBay for 450. Width is another reason and it looks like your gonna keep the truck for a while. Some 14 SF came with 4.10s factory there are 2 around yards here.
I think I'm going to try to find a 6lug sf. I should be able to pick one up for 300 with not to much driving.
I also finally ordered new tires last week. Went with Wild Peak 35 x 12.5 on the rally wheels. Was able to get the truck inspected on Monday and have driven it all week.
