6" lift. 3/4 ton axles.
Also, finally gave up on using my soldering gun and switched to just using a “windproof” candle lighter. Holy crap open flames make it so much easier. From now on the soldering gun is going to be for stippling pistols only. Any soldering gets done with fire.
I just made the same realization last week.

I've only ever soldered with fire. Only way to go. Just need to strip a little extra insulation or the flame will. Get one of these. https://www.amazon.com/Blazer-Stingray-Butane-Torch/dp/B07C1S6KVZ
Refillable with butane. Works great for heat shrink too.

I’m just kidding about that I just like the expression. My plan was to do exactly like you said. Angle iron welded to the bed for a “shelf” to drop the cover panel back on top of

Shit I had an s10 in high school that I cut three sides of the square with a grinding disc on an angle grinder and just folded it up and then back down when I was done. Same truck though lost the rear part of the bed on the highway somewhere due to rust.

So we sold my house and I need to get this hog running to drive to the new house.
Been steady working on it here and there. Fuel tank is in and where I want it. I ended up turning it 90 degrees so the fuel filler points to the rear. Modified the suburban fuel filler I had to make it work.
Shortened and welded it back together. Gonna end up with the cap basically sitting on the bed floor.
Trying to have first fire up this weekend.

Stopped working on the truck in order to get my lawn handled. Also had to order a -6 female female connector for my filters.

But I did take the dodge to get taco smell.

I kinda regret spending the money on it. But dammit I wanted a mega cab since high school (when they came out). Finally said **** it. I’ve had it since November. So far I’ve got it finished getting it fully deleted and efilived. Next project is probably going to be either interior or I’m doing a Lorenz suspension setup & some 35s.

And a longbed conversion? :D

Yeah if I did in fact get a mega cab it would have been a longbed within the first 6 months. It was hard enough finding a decent 6 speed let alone a mega cab 6 speed.

Mommas don't let your babies grow up to drive short beds.

That’s a big negativo. I don’t need or want a longbed. Just need 35s so it looks proportional

Stupid little progress when I get time. Had to order some pipe to make my filler neck work. It needed to be a super shallow degree turn to line up with the tank under the bed.
It’s not pretty cuz I had to do a lot of pie cutting and weld filling but it doesn’t appear to leak so that’s a start.

Still need to weld the vent tube fitting back on and plumb that. Then it’s on to test firing the ****er off.
