1981 K20

6" lift. 3/4 ton axles.
You got motor trend on demand?
If not they have a free 5 or 7 day trial.
Tune in to engine Masters and find the episode that freiburger and dulcich test dual plane vs single plane.

Should be Happy with your choice after you watch that.

Sure do. I have watched all those shows so many times over. That helped push me my way also. Now those engines are running wide open all the time so it isn’t the same thing. But I think it will still work out well.

Any specs on the heads?

Cam looks like it lands nicely between an Edelbrock performer and their RPM cam. Should work pretty well

Yeah my old neighbor is an engineer at BP.
I sent it to him and he said it should be pretty torquey.

Here are the specs on the heads.

Ideally the push rods won’t need to be changed. But if they do I might get new rockers with my new pushrods and go to 1.6’s for a little extra lift.

We run the same single plane on the EL Cam with FiTech. Runs like a raped ape, you won’t have any issues with it.

Of course we have a -50 wind chill coming in the next few days so it might be a minute before we get to see the powaa

Haven’t done much to the pig lately. Been working on improving storage in the garage. Installed a drop down ladder and an electric hoist into the garage attic. I’m still putting flooring down so I can store stuff up there but it has already made a huge change in space. I was able to get some stuff off the wall/ceiling hooks and I took down a 4’x6’ shelf rack already. Gotta keep plugging away on that. Also used the hood as a scaffold to install some additional lights in the garage so that was helpful.

Did start bending up some strap to get the fans mounted last night.
Need to get some more rivnuts to finish that though.

The bbc has to be rebuilt as it sat full of water for over a year. Since I’m going to go thru a rebuild I’m thinking I’d rather make it into a little bit more of a performer than what I’d need in this truck. If I can put my cam and heads on and be content with leaving the small block in this truck, it’ll let me put the big block in the next truck I get. Namely a 2wd street truck.

Na, this big ol thing needs a big block.
Leaveing a sbc would be like a girl with a big booty with no tits.

Which is why I’m torn. It would make sense to put the big block in it. But if I’m gonna go thru the expense of rebuilding I’d rather Race it up a little bit. But that would make it less desirable to be used for this rig.

Just don't go to overboard with the cam and you will be fine.

Finished screwing around with the fan mounts for the windstars. Just used some strap I had laying around along with some riv nuts to the fan body and the radiator mount.
