Sometimes it's not even truck progress that makes you happy.
Since the transmission is up out if the way. I took a few hours tonight to clean up the garage. Got my tools put away. Floor swept up. Folded up the picker. Just general housekeeping that's been lacking over the past few weeks.
Hopefully I'll get back under the truck tomoro after work.

Also hopefully getting a payday this week. Maybe I can start bouncing back soon.

So with the help of my wife under the truck. Hooked up the NP241 and the driveshaft.
Thought I had screwed up the lt holes on the 241 so I took it back off. Only to realize it was right and that I need to switch to my other crossmember with the little dip for the front shaft clearance.
Oh well progress is progress. Hoping to get the linkages connected and work on hooking up the starter and the cable shifter tomoro.

Good work. I know how you feel, getting something in thinking you are done, then having to take it all back out again.

it sucked. after i had the t case up the front output was sitting about level with the crossmember. i'm just glad i got the double hump crossmember with the case it should solve my problem. gotta do that this week i got lazy over the weekend.

ok so plans for this week. i need to make a list on the internet where i'm accountable otherwise i'll just be lazy again..

1. reinstall starter- done
B. install trans dipstick & fill trans fluid - done.
2. swap trans crossmember for front Dshaft clearance - wrong. See below
IV. connect transfer case linkage
E. decide on placement/ mounting and cable running of new shifter
6. install front driveshaft and refill tcase - filled only
7. hook up the b&m kickdown setup for the 400.
8. find a vaccum modulator line to run
9. anything else i've forgotten.
10. drive the truck and make sure it runs before i park it again- did that. Runs great. Tranny feels pretty firm. Finally a break my way

to do the front springs & shocks & bumper work.

Got the dipstick in. Got the dust cap put on my distributor finally. Figured out the problem. I put my plug wires on backwards. So got half of them switched and reinstalled. Small progress but I was sweaty and hungry so no more.

Got the other half of my plug wires fixed around. Also got the starter hooked back up. While doing that one of the starter bolts dropped out and hit me in the eye. That sucked.

It's runs and drives!
Just went around the block but it did feel solid.
Good firm shift pressure. Few leaks popped up but got those handled easily enough.

Did try switching to the other crossmember. Found it doesn't come close to fitting my tcase mounting footpad so I threw the first one back on an left it as a 2wd for the time being.
I'm gonna work on getting a vacuum modulator line to help the shifting and just buttoning up the inside.
I'm stealing an idea from howdiy and using an ammo can on the center console. I'm gonna mod it to use a hinge in the back tho so it's quicker to use as a center console. Maybe weld on some cup holders and call it a day.
Also I'm doing some plating samples for a company on pirate selling some new seat sliders. So I might be putting a set of those on. We will see how the week goes

Good work man, feels good to drive it again doesn't it!

which cross members do you have.
I should have the one you need just need to see which ones you already tried.

Umm. Not really 100% sure. I'll have to try an get pictures. The one on the truck is fairly flat and straight. The one that didn't work had a hump up on the drivers side and a dip on the passenger side. Which is what I need to clear my front shaft. But the pad for the t case mount on the one with the dip isn't long enough to fit my 208 mount

This is the one I have that didn't work. The foot mounting part isn't wide enough for my trans adapter.

New machines seat sliders from a vender from pbb. Found some binding in the action bcuz the tabs I had before aren't perfectly in line. Probably redo them anyway.

Also got an ammo can that I'm honna use as my center console. The big ones tho are a lift off not a hinged lid. So I made a hinge and threw on a latch thatll be easier to use than the standard latch.
Got it painted and I'm gonna work on getting the shifter mounted

But for now I been grilling some ribs and I'm hongry so that's all for today.
