In reference to the previous discussion about trans temp I watched the trans temps on my 08 2500hd Saturday. I was hauling about 1500lbs of dirt in the bed for a 50 mile trip. With 60° air temps the trans ran at 130° to 140°. The high end was in the hills and running 75mph on the interstate. I was surprised it ran that cool but then air temp was relatively cool too. It's the 6spd auto.

Damn son. Wtf. I just got back from a 1200 mile road trail dirt trip in Baja. My trans didn't miss a beat and I had temps up to 240 at one point in super deep sand and 4 hi.

I talked to derale today about my cooler placement as that is too hot but...

Did you seriously blow up another trans.

Holy crap that is hot! Normal in the Allison is supposed to be 100 above ambient for a general rule. So on a 75 degree day 175 trans temp is normal. Obviously that's ok the street not the sand but dang 240 is getting up there

Yea I put my remote mount dual fan derale in the engine bay for protection but it isn't getting enough cool air to work when things get warm. It is fine for most driving hovering around the 180 most of the time but some circumstances heat it up

are you looping it through the radiator? And where is that temp sensor location?

Way to sell them. I sold a matched set with tires for 100 last year. Took 3 months to sell.

I have two sensors. One in the body and one in the pan. The pan never gets as hot as the body, and no I didn't run it through the radiator. I just need to move the cooler to where it can draw in cold air. Under the hood isn't helping.
